A former KBG agent,Igor Panarin, predicts the US will split into several pieces by 2010, mostly beholden to outside entities. Not likely. At least not like he predicts. Only an outsider with little apparent understanding of the US would say that Texas would willingly become part of Mexico, that the Carolinas would join New England rather than the other southern states, or that Utah would team up with California. Given such huge misunderstandings of the US, his scenario becomes bizarre and pointless.

He’s been predicting this for ten years. Russian state media has recently picked up on it. That their confederation of republics fell apart doesn’t mean the United States will. Could happen, I suppose, but more likely as loose confederations between groups of states, and not beholden to outside interests.

KBG? Stealing bandwidth?

People still care about image linking? Seriously, what kind of chump-ass hosting plan are they on if they think people linking to their images is "stealing bandwidth" ? That is just downright embarrassing.

Anyways, a subject near and dear to my heart as a Vermont son. We've got a thriving secession movement, unfortunately it's mostly idealist types who just want to make a statement...not a lot of people I talked to really wanted to drill down into logistics. It probably won't happen until I go back and get elected as Governor.

The notion that Canada has any power to exert is...beyond belief. Canucks are just waking up to how badly US finance has hollowed them out. The US elites won their war against Canada before Jeff started doing RI.

Alaskans would fight to the very last schoolgirl against Russian occupation, that's definitely some fantasy from a...oh right, a Russian.

However, Hawaii going to Japan or China? Pretty damn plausible.

That "Atlantic America" is interesting....I could see the East Coast clinging on to the DC power structure, but Vermont and NY being part of a federation with South Carolina and West Virginia is a little harder to swallow. I think the East Coast would wind up being the most "Balkanized" swath of the country in this scenario.

Mexico is exactly like Canada only 100x more so.

Looks like I will wind up moving back to Denver again if I can become a Canadian.

That map is pretty bunk -- interesting and something to think about, but bunk. If something like that were to happen, there's no saying it is still going to follow state borders.

I'm looking forward to see the progress of this thread, and not just because I am an European. :wink There are various scenarios about US disintegration making their rounds around the 'nets right now, which I think is very interesting and telling.

Contrast Panarin's prediction with the scenario presented in the TV-series Jericho for example. In the show, a big US-based corporation ("Jennings and Rall") organises a number of nuclear false flag attacks against major US centres (attributed to Iran and North Korea) to gain control of the continental United States in the form of a newly formed "Allied States of America", led from Cheyenne, a fascist corporate state abandoning the US constitution and various rights to "protect America". New York and Columbus, Ohio, however escape the nuclear blasts intended for them and thus a rump United States is kept alive to contest the "Allied States", its capital in Columbus. There is also an Independent Republic of Texas, which the series protagonists manage to bring onboard to challenge the "Allied States" by proving that Jennings and Rall had a hand in the nuclear attacks.

Red is the ASA, blue the USA and Texas is, well, Texas.

I'm sure there's a couple of folks around her who might remember that balkanized America was the setting for this fairly amusing indie comic book from the 1980's by Howard Chaykin. I remember it seeming to be highly plausible plot construct to me back then.

"Ecotopia" by Ernst Callenbach is one of the very best, forward-thinking, pragmatic, idealistic, positive, novelized versions of a states-rights independence based on reconstituted sovereign Northwestern Western USA I've ever read. It made a huge impression on me when I read it about 23 years ago, that STILL inspires me with an alternative, progressive model of what is possible. I can't recommend it enough.

Silence - is no reaction
"Violence" - that one-word caption
Can you say it with just one word?
Unspoken - the sins that go unheard

Government... bullshit
Black and white... fight

Look though this broken window
From normality into the ghetto
Broken through madness, hate, and boredom
U.K. - a disunited kingdom

Enquiries, but no solutions
Faceless, empty illusions
Reasons are always pushed aside
Remember the day the country died
Remember the day the country died
