Maybe we need more than just one new, old face. I know I need to show mine more often.

I'd support that idea, big time. Let's get a crew in here.

Thinking about other suggestions, and Luther Blisset comes to mind as a possible. He seems always fair and even tempered, at least.

That's a good one.

I pm'd searcher this afternoon to sound him out, but he hasn't responded yet. (Clearly playing it coy.)

Also, there's Riddler, but he's pretty busy sometimes. Crikkett? Too contentious? That's pretty funny, coming from me. But, no, she's not a good choice, I guess. Love to get another woman, nonetheless.

I checked the banning list this morning, and Hugh was still listed, so I released him. Could you double-check it and make sure he's a freebird?

I've not been showing mine the last while, apologies. But had some medical difficulties this past month, miscarried & was in the emergency last night for complications. All's good now, though. Sorry you've had a rough go, barracuda. You seem to get flack because you don't pull any punches & that's awesome. That you don't pull any punches, not the flack part. I hope ya don't hang up your skates & I hope we get more on the crew. I'm at home most the day today keeping off my feet, so I'll patrol the halls for a bit :)

Peregrine, so sad to hear that. Take care of yourself. Don't sweat this small stuff.

Thanks you two, I'm doing well, just a little weak physically. Ha, I am sorta having a giggle at the fact that I've now turned Hugh's mod thread into a discussion on the goings on of my uterus. Wonder what he'd think of that, eh? :D

I hope no one minds that I unilaterally locked and firepitted Hugh's threads. In return for which I received a few interesting pms from him, quickly outlining why my actions were unconscionable, and suggesting various topics for me to look into, including,

    - Phillip Agee
    - Bianary tactics
    - CIA S.O.P.
    - Zipf's Law
    - Army Field Manual FM 33-1, and
    - the history and science of linguistics, mnemonics, psyops, military doctrine, and culture.

No, I'm not kidding.

I think banning him might get him to actually write about this subject he claims to care so deeply about. The most bizarre aspect of Hugh, to me, is that he's just....here. You know? Not a single article. Just these weird apophenia outbursts at RI.

It's interesting - back in '07 or '08 you could find Hugh's commentary in disparate locations around the web (usually popping up in various article comments sections) by searching for his typical keywords - "CIA for kidz", "keyword hijacking", "Disney + CIA", etc., under a variety of psuedonyms. Now I think he has learned to disguise his comments, if he's still making them, by avoiding those typical word combos.

His activities here seem to have devolved into vendetta, unfortunately, in a drive-by format punctuated by piquishness and clearly intended to provoke. He's gotten mean. I wonder how the "credentialed circles" he claims to frequent view his ideas. The whole thing is either ridiculous or scary, take your pick.
