Before Britney, there was Brook Shields. She played an underaged bride in a film called Pretty Baby, set in- you guessed it- Louisiana, the same state that gave us Britney. Soon after, her face was plastered on every magazine cover in the land, and the same unspoken speculation was present- when does she give it up, and who does she give it up to? Smitten celebrities, and a Japanese prince, all lined up. Wouldn't it figure that Michael Jackson had the winning ticket.

True enough, POC. There are significant differences, in that Pretty Baby was at least perceived as 'art' and had a pedigree. I wonder if Louis Malle or anybody else at the time anticipated the subsequent focus on Shield's sex life. Britney was marketed from the very beginning in that way, and the 'art' - such as it is - was irrelevent. I think Pretty Baby might have manifested a prurient interest that was always there, beneath the surface of public interest in the lives of many American starlets, and a few suits took note... Post Britney, it seems like protocol. Plus, with Britney, the speculation was anything but "unspoken". BTW - I figured out what's happening in Norn Macdonald's bedroom. You guessed it... Also, Tennyson mentions air warfare and uses the words "air navies" giving the impression of fleets of air ships, but refers to the ones controlling them as "pilots", as opposed to "captain". That is startlingly prescient. Karel Capek already had Leonardo Da Vanci's drawings of a humanoid automaton from 1495, The Jaquet-Droz automata, which could draw and play piano and were built by Pierre Jaquet-Droz and his son Henri-Louis between 1768 and 1774, Mary Shelley's Frankenstein from 1831 and the 1914 silent film "Golem" to base his tales of robots on. Wells could have gotten the idea for time travel from Washington Irving's story of Rip Van Winkle, which was published in 1819, although the "urban legend" surrounding Da Vinci's drawings of parachutes, helicopters, and streamlined artillery shells, including some with stabilizing fins, was that they were the product of him having travelled into the future. The most startling prediction that Wells made, IMHO, was naming on of the books that he wrote in 1939, The New World Order. In the book, Wells claimed that world socialism was inevitable and made the following quote: "Countless people, from maharajas to millionaires and from pukkha sahibs to pretty ladies, will hate the New World Order, be rendered unhappy by frustration of their passions and ambitions through its advent and will die protesting against it. When we attempt to estimate its promise we have to bear in mind the distress of a generation or so of malcontents, many of them quite gallant and graceful-looking people." As revealing as that is, Alice Bailey tops him, as she mentions not only the "New World Order", but also the "points of light" in 1934, in her book "The Externalization of the Hierarchy In Section II - The General World Picture - The section titled  "Steps Towards the New World Order", she writes the following: In the preparatory period for the new world order there will be a steady and regulated disarmament. It will not be optional. No nation will be permitted to produce and organize any equipment for destructive purposes or to infringe the security of any other nation. One of the first tasks of any future peace conference will be to regulate this matter and gradually see to the disarming of the nations. In Section III - Forces behind the Evolutionary Process - she writes "Through the agency of the many tiny points of light and will, much potency can be transmitted." So, if you thought Bush Senior came up with the terms "New World Order" and the 1000 "points of light", then you are mistaken. Bailey wrote some things that I don't consider very ominous, but I include them to show the impact she had on the world, unbeknownst to most of us. In her book "The Rays and the Initiations - Part One - Fourteen Rules For Group Initiation, she predates the musical "Hair" "Only the dawn is with us as yet - the dawn of the Aquarian Age." Some have credited her with coining the phrase "New Age", particularly due to her 1944 book "Discipleship in the New Age", however the term was the name of the magazine for Mason's Supreme Council 33 degree, before they changed it to The Scottish Rite Journal. <img src="http://www.srmason-sj.org/web/journal-files/Issues/jan-feb04/boettjer-1909.jpg"/> BTW, Alice Bailey, in addition to starting the Lucifer Trust, which Jeff has mentioned, was an anti-semite. The Jew represents materialism, cruelty and a spiritual conservatism, under the domination of the separative, selfish mind, that from which all good disciples want to emerge. Technological advances tend to be directed toward building the things that humans want. When people have spent millennia discussing how great it would be to fly, and what wonderful things one could do with a flying machine, (be it a carpet, wooden horse, magical chair, or whatever), it's no surprise that people will try to build flying machines as soon as the technology for them is in place. Okay, just wanted to add this last bit and then I'll let it go, as people are not getting the points I'm trying to make. I was so fascinated with that stuff when I was really young. I remember reading about the plutonium from the Oklo mines and all the talk of ancient reactors, The Delhi Iron Pillar and the Baghdad battery. I read about ancient computers, such as the one found in 1901 off the isle of Antikythera, which allegedly tracked the movement of the stars, The Phaistos Disk, and the legends of the Ark Of Solon. I read all the Fortean material I could get my hands on; books on the Fuente Magna, the numerous crystal skulls, the Piri Reis Map and the golden airplane "models" found in South America, the corn in the stone work at Rosslyn Chapel that predates Columbus. It's all amazingly intersting, but it was when I read about the Voynich manuscript and how William Newbold claimed that the biological drawings in the Voynich manuscript were of asseminiferous tubes, microscopic cells with nuclei, and even spermatozoa and that one of the drawings seemed to be of The Milky Way Galaxy, drawn in 1586 ! <img src="http://www.world-mysteries.com/sar_13vmgal3.jpg"/> It reminded me of how Eratosthenes of Cyrene (who invented a sieve that measures prime numbers up to 1,000,000) figured out that world was round and measured its'circumference 1600 years before Columbus ! Then I read how Prescott Currier gave a lecture about the Voynich manuscript at the National Security Agency in 1978 and I wondered why the NSA would be interested in such things. So I read up on Rudolph II of Bohemia, who first owned the manuscript, and I became interested in nobles who were connected to alchemists and mystics, such as Francis Bacon and John Dee. I started to see a recurring pattern of powerful people being surrounded and/or inspired by occultists, and their seeming knowledge of things far beyond the science of the day, so I decided to track it and I found some astounding things along the way. I read about Ignatius Loyola, who started the Jesuits, and how his group of mystics were the first Illuminati, and how the Jesuits educated Adam Weishaupt who formed the later, and more well-known, Illuminati. I read about how the Jacobins were Illuminatists and instituted, amongst other things, worship of "Reason", the massacre of, first and foremost, priests and nobles, and then down to even chemists, as Robespierre of the French Revolution believed that depopulating France from a population of twenty-five million down to eight million would solve their problems. I read how Annie Besant merged her universal utopian socialism with Theosophy; about her Theosophical predeccesor Blavatsky's fascination with swastikas, Aryans, her anti-semitism and obsession with a re-incarnated Aryan Christ, which fed into the Nazi mythology and Hitler's use of depopulation.... and I started to see what Jeff calls the Military Occult Complex, which I simply saw then as Illuminatism. I began to see how depopulation was/is a big part of the Illuminati plan for the world, which is why I'm alarmed at the first proclamation of the Georgia Guidestones and Huxley's Brave New World Revisited, namely to keep the population under 500 hundred million. That means that 5,500,000,000 people have to be "depopulated"! How do they plan to do this? Manufactured dieases? Germ Warfare? Poisons in our food and drinks? This brings us back again to H.G. Wells. I've already mentioned how he "predicted" No Smoking Laws, named a 1939 book "New World Order" and saw a coming one world government. However, in his 1933 book The Shape Of Things To Come, Wells "predicted" World War II started by Germany in Poland ! <a href="http://etext.library.adelaide.edu.au/w/wells/hg/w45th/chapter20.html" target="top">etext.library.adelaide.edu.au/w/wells/hg/w45th/chapter20.html</a> Although each year in the Thirties saw the international tension in Europe increasing, it was only in 1940 that actual warfare broke out. All Europe was “mined” for ten years before that time, but the very consciousness of that fact, if it did not hold back the drift towards war, increased the gravity of its onset. That ingenious contrivance of President Wilson’s, the Polish Corridor, Poland’s “access to the sea”, was the particular mine that exploded first. It discoloured the face and skin, produced a violent fever, cutaneous irritation and extreme mental distress...Then the bodily energy vanished in collapse and the victim lay down and died. The fever was not simply infectious through water, but transmitted by the almost impalpable scabs scratched off by the sufferer.
