Atty. Gen. Holder Likely to Get Grilling on ATF Program at Congressional Hearing

WASHINGTON – Atty. Gen. Eric Holder Jr. might have to bring his extra-thick skin when he appears Tuesday before a House Judiciary Committee hearing where he’s expected to get a grilling about the ATF gun-walking program called Operation Fast and Furious.

The program has stirred a mountain of controversy, and one of those folks leading the charge has been Rep. Darrell Issa, who sits on the House Judiciary Committee.

Becca Watkins, a spokeswoman for the the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, which Issa chairs, told ticklethewire.com ,that she expects Issa to press Holder for answers during Tuesday’s hearing.

A former ATF agent spent most of Thursday testifying in a federal corruption trial that he stole drugs and money from crime scenes with several Tulsa police officers for their personal gain.


Brandon McFadden, 34, detailed for prosecutors his criminal activity, mostly involving Officer Jeff Henderson but including Officers Frank Khalil and Sean Larkin. He also said that Henderson made up information to obtain search warrants.

Blunders After U.S. Arrest of Suspected Supplier Had a Part in High-Level Ousters

Federal authorities are probing why the U.S. in 2010 let go an Arizona man accused of supplying grenades to a Mexican drug cartel, a case that played a role in the ouster last week of the nation's top firearms regulator and the U.S. attorney in Phoenix.

U.S. officials said missteps in the case, which hasn't been previously disclosed, are being investigated by the Justice Department and Congress. Federal agents in 2009-10 at the Phoenix office of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives led the case against the suspect, who they believed was dealing grenades to cartels in Mexico. ...
