Glad you are recovering Avalon, my thoughts, well wishes, hugs, a hot cuppa, and all go out to you.

A toast to a fine painter and a genuinely kind human being. Christopher Hoff, you will be missed.

RIP.

Now he's gone. His body lay in his loft for around two weeks until it was discovered by friends last night. Check in often with your loved ones.

I didn't know Mr. Hoff, obviously, but since he was "a genuinely kind human being," I'm especially sorry to hear this.

(And what a talented guy...)

I especially love this.

The guy lives on in his art. A great thing about being an artist.

I'm not being glib. A lot of death around lately it seems .....

Art lives! Although, I am sorry for your loss, PW. Some days it seems life is nothing but.

I'd like to buy a bottle of something sparkling for Annie A, as I missed her birthday. Belated cheers!

I regret that I will miss your After Dinner Party, as I'll be away then, but look forward to the evolving news.

Cheers to all

We had the memorial this morning.

There is too much to say, and a conversation about death and isolation in our culture that I wish I could begin here, but my friends tell me I shouldn't .

Anyway Perelandra, we're experiencing a splintering, on the precipice of an even harder pressure. I've nothing much to say about it except that it all feels natural, inevitable, as nodes on the path to greater wrong.

I'm so sorry, PW  Just staggered through the single worst week I can remember in years myself and wish I could give you a hug. Hang in there and know that you've got intangible but very real support directed your way right now...

Oh, LilyPat, I am sorry. I send hugs to you!

I think I was being a bit too morose anyway.

Seattle men are wearing hats.

I don't mean the little hipster metrosexuals in their skinny pants, and short brimmed fedoras, I mean average guys. I saw them today in long 40's style raincoats sporting full-brimmed numbers, and THEY WERE HOT!

If they're wearing them here, I'd guess I should have seen same two years ago n New York, but I don't remember it.

Anyway, if I saw some RI fella in one I'd probably go into some sort of paroxysmal priapism.
I do like hats on a man.

You know you're an MC survivor when your conversation during a first date could easily be the launch point for a Joss Whedon movie plot.

Sorry, Willow.

I'm glad to have found my guy all those years ago now -- one reason being that conversations on first dates are often boring as hell. Sounds like yours wasn't. The right guy might actually appreciate that, or he should.

Didn't know whether to laugh or weep in commiseration, Willow, so I'll do both and send you a :grouphug: First dates used to make me so nervous that alters would get out and all my cautious control of my mouth would go out the window...but perhaps, as Simulist says, that actually has the potential to be a Good Thing. Eventually. With luck.

:hug1: back to you all!

I was doing both too, LilyPat. Sometimes I don't know what else to do except make a joke out of a bad situation. Mouths were unrestrained on both sides, which is what made it so, well, uncomfortably not-boring, as well as surprising, though I suppose it shouldn't be. We need to come up with the MC equivalent for gaydar, but something more like heat seeking missile, because it's so dangerous if you don't pick up the signal.

I don't know what I was thinking anyway. My heart belongs to a fella who hangs out around here, my beloved, perpetual, one-who-got-away.
