I'm going to go out on a limb and speculate that the Russian threat to the US is far greater than the Chinese threat, for the following reasons:

en.rian.ru/world/20060418/46572875.html
Russia says seminar in U.S. "urged new terrorist attacks"

I've long suspected that the US is behind the unrest in the Caucasus -- there has been strong, strong hinting from the Russians, particularly after the Beslan massacre. The same gang of jihadists from Afghanistan, with the Saudi ties, has infested that area. We have all those strategic interests; etc. and so forth. Ominously, Russia does not accuse us...as Putin consolidates control, NGOs, Peace Corps, etc. are cracked down upon and thrown out; US-backed multi-billionaires are thrown into jail; private corps are broken up and taken over by the State; Russia pays off its debts; Russia sits and waits, unconquerable and with nearly infinite energy supplies; its economy growing.

And the US's rhetoric is growing more and more harsh against Russia--as we snatch up country after country on its border and in its sphere of influence, progressively since 1989, only losing out so far in Belarus, and now losing ground in Central Asia.

The Shanghai Cooperation Organization will be joined by Pak., India, Mongolia, and Iran, I believe, no longer to be mere observers. But where is the real anti-Western expertise to be found? Who knows some of our most intimate secrets? Certainly not the Chinese. Also, while the Russians are busily growing their economy and cracking down on cowboy capitalism, you don't see the Chinese uttering a peep about the prostitution of their economy to outside interests. The REAL story behind the rise of China is the capital from overseas Chinese that poured in after Deng went soft. WE have up to our necks in China intrigues for over a hundred years--look at the Luce family and the China Lobby, and look at many of our actions around the Chinese perimeter since 1948. These have come with massive profits for us and for the closely-knit megafamilies of the overseas Chinese, protected by some of the most awesome secret societies in the world (Triads and Tongs). The rise to prosperity of Singapore and Malaysia are due largely to the Chinese, and whatever prosperity and capitalism there is across much of the rest of Southeast Asia is in the Chinese sector.

I just think that this whole idea that the Cold War ended is a fiction--we have been consolidating our position progressively, with some setbacks, but I think we long ago cut a deal with the Chinese, or at least through the overseas (largely Nationalist) Chinese and their money and connections and secret societies have got a stranglehold on China--or at least enough influence over the Old Guard Communist Party that there is little to worry.

WE always need to be suspicious of geopolitical meta-narratives, and I admit I am usually take in by the "we are threatened by the rise of China" argument. But the globalists, the corps and banks, really don't have allegiances per se.

Perhaps even Russia is completely bought out at the deepest levels--but I'll hold out some hope (rather go into a new Cold War with Russia than the One World, I guess; better MAD than DAY-AD.

zjurhgvc,

I agree with you across the board.
Clearly, the U.S./Empire is behind the "unrest" in the Caucuses.

I think of lot of Russians people themselves are still socialist-minded, and there's resistant to capitalist imperialism there. Look at the battle over the attempted privatization of gas there. They have every reason to be, as the Russian economy has been destroyed, and it's a really tragic situation there. However, Putin clearly works for the globalists, though, as all politicians do, he has to maintain some degree of accountability to the citizens. Hence his resistance to the Iraq invasion, for instance.

Re China, it's clearly true by now, no?, that globalists (secret societies...) have control over the Chinese government.
Actually, just yesterday Chinese President Hu Jintao spoke at Yale.
Yale Daily News:
"The friendship between Yale and China already has a long history," Hu said through a translator in the Corporation Room prior to his address. "I have been looking forward to this moment for a long time."

a friendship between China and the world center of secret societies...

But there is also a big and growing union movement in China:
www.pww.org/article/artic...718/1/230/

Anyone else have more insight on the economic changes in China?

On Iran, I think that is one of the most misunderstood situations. I think the U.S. has been secretly in bed with the elites in Iran for a long time. Indeed, as someone said earlier on this thread, the East-West battle is a lie. The "clash of civilizations" is a lie. A really excellen thesis, and the very best material that I've found on this subject of U.S. support for Islamic fundamentalism, is here:
emperors-clothes.com/iraq-iran.htm

Particularly this article on Iran:
emperors-clothes.com/docs/helping.htm

So why all the hoopla about attacking Iran? The U.S. isn't really going to attack Iran, are they? I don't think so, but they are contributing to more misunderstanding and belief in the "clash of civilizations" amongst Americans.
And the above author gives a well-stated explanation:
"Moreover, Iran and the U.S. have been trading the same hostile statements for years. Indeed, the mutual attacks seem to get hottest precisely when Iran and the US are working together on some covert project. Perhaps this is intended to divert us, just as members of a gang of pickpockets may stage a loud argument and then, while the onlookers are absorbed watching the show, steal their wallets."

Btw, here is that photo of Ahmadinejad as a hostage-taker:
www.iranfocus.com/modules...oryid=2670
