Harry, same historic event, different detail. Watching when Ruby shot Oswald. It was so convenient, and then Ruby has cancer. My 13 year old self smelled Bullshit.

When I started full-time work. I can categorically say every boss I have had has been an asshole. The higher up the chain the you look, the shittier the person in charge. I realised the world was run by megalomaniacs and I've struggled with it ever since.

As my arms just started to tremble he in one quick motion ripped his face off revealing a reptiles face underneath. The reptile face spoke in my dad's voice asking, "Got that?" I nodded yes.

Damn, you beat me to it. (I was going to do a story like that but with me having time-travelled back from the future point in which the reptiles reveal themselves and begin The Great Feeding.)

Oh Jack, that's more than the warm bloods can take right now. Don't frighten the rabbits too much.
We need to keep The Great Feeding on the down low for the time being.

Iran-Contra, I guess. It was confirmation that the post-Watergate Bicentennial Spirit whatever whatever was a sham, and so was the "Reagan Revolution." Ollie for Prez!

What a motherfucker Bill Clinton turned out to be, huh? And since Poppy all but adopted him, he's literally an honorary Bush now!

The 1999/2000 anointing of GWB as US President shook me. WTF, man? Forget Gore v Bush for a sec -- Did Shrub even face a primary challenge?

I was pretty sure I was watching a staged event live even before the second plane hit the WTC. It was all too perfect and possible to smoothly report. "Barbara Olson phoning Ted from Flight 93?" Dang me.

Living through the Hurricane Katrina and Deepwater Horizon events? Back-to-back trips through the institutional distortions funhouse.

However, it has been only within the past 5 years that I had the realization that WWII never ended. That shook me, but my frames of reference have resettled much more sensically.

Yeah. Iran-Contra, pretty much. It is when I started studying deep politics more systematically and understanding some of the internal mechanics. Some! Can talk about plenty before that: The threat of nuclear war, the idea of New York City as a Ground Zero. The arrival of the Reagan had me astounded; I was 15 and couldn't believe this was going to be the new regime, when it was so obviously bogus. US support for Israeli invasion of Lebanon and complicity in Sabra-Shatila massacre. The western powers supporting both sides in Iran-Iraq war. But for me the big shift to studying it and hoping to change anything about it was Iran-Contra. The same year I returned to New York from college to see the place with radically different eyes (and about 50,000 more homeless people on the street than when I had left). And I discovered the squatters on the Lower East Side. And the next big stage for me came with the Gulf war, which seemed like a lining up for apocalypse (which it was). Finally, after 12 years of Reagan-Bush, seeing what an obvious fraud was being perpetrated with Clinton as the new hope and the change.

I had a moment in 1980 watching one of the "debates" between Carter and Reagan. Reagan was his embarrassingly godawful, moronic, stumbling, and incoherent self except for a few scripted lines that he was able to interject ( "there you go again"). I watched it, was apalled at Reagan, was confident that any person with functioning eyes and ears would clearly see that Carter had made mincemeat out of Reagan, yet!! When it was over, all the talking heads were ranting the exact opposite, how Reagan had "won"! I remember thinking "there's no way they just watched the same thing I just watched". At the time I was merely baffled. Utterly baffled. I hadn't yet figured out that the media was in on it.

I was still conditioned by years of Walter Cronkite, the myth of Woodward amd Bernstein, and the muckracking wonder that was 60 minutes back then. It never occurred to me that everyone in the mainstream media might actually just be tools of the PTB.

But that was a big big WTF moment for me.

For me it was being right in the middle of it when the Gothenburg riots started. One minute me and my friend are walking at the head of a peaceful demonstration, the next we're 3 feet away from a line of rabid police dogs (and handlers), and 30-40 feet behind us a line of police horses cut straight through the crowd, batons swinging.
Only reason I got out of there in one piece is that some poor, naive bastard behind me yelled "Come on everyone. Let's make a chain!", and hooked his arm through mine so I got pulled back into the crowd. Last I saw of my friend was him and a dog baring their teeth at each other.
Later on I was in a group kept behind a line of riot police on the sidewalk for 5 hours, and while sitting there I saw several "black bloc" people hanging out and drinking coffee with the pigs police.
Later on I found this place :praybow

Bhopal distaster, and the subsequent (and ongoing) treatment meted out to those affected by both Union Carbide/Dow Chemical and their own government. It showed that a corporation could effectively "own" a country, and act within it to the severe detriment of the population with the tacit support of the rulers. Once I started looking into it I realised this kind of thing had been going on not just for years or decades but for centuries - East India Company, Anglo-Persian Oil co., etc, etc. Too many to name.

Paul Rueubens, a k a "Pee Wee Herman", was arrested July 26 1991 for jerking off at the South Trail Cinema, an XXX theatre. [Editor's note: one wonders whether that should even be a crime at all.] Reubens paid a $50 fine and did various and sundry community services. Children's television will never be the same.

re: ruby getting cancer: On one hand, it appears (via Judy Baker story) that Oswald, Ruby and Ferrie were involved with developing a cancer virus with which to infect Castro. Therefore, it coulda been easy to infect ruby; who appears to have contracted and died of lung cancer in a few months...On the other hand... tho' he didnt smoke, he ran bars, which were constantly thick with second hand smoke.

Do you think these three were the ones to invent a cancer virus - in or before 1963?
