interesting synchronicity

For fun or due to boredom I looked up 'magick' on Google Image Search. When I saw that I immediately thought of (and maybe you people did too) this: <!--EZCODE AUTOLINK START--><a href="http://www.villagevoice.com/blogs/bushbeat/archive/images/hooded-prisoner-abu-ghraib-.jpg">www.villagevoice.com/blog...hraib-.jpg</a><!--EZCODE AUTOLINK END--><br><br>This isn't the only U.S. military abuse/quasi-occult synchronicity I have come across.<br>A while back I was looking up sensory deprivation (my interests were more John Lilly than Don Rumsfeld) and wikipedia decided to use the same image I had just seen moments before of a detainee at Camp X-Ray in sunny Cuba (also one I found through Google Image Search, though searching for something unrelated to sensory deprivation). The latter synchronicity is not as strong but I thought I'd toss it in with the other.<br><br>Final note, does anyone around here keep a 'synchronicity journal'? I do, just to see if I can squeeze out some deep meaning, though I am still a skeptic regarding the theory. <p></p><i></i>

I've been fascinated by synchronicity since I was a kid, and I used to keep a journal of the bigger synchs. There have been times in my life when it seemed that one synchronicity flowed into another in a cascade -- truly astounding stuff. <br><br>They seem to occur in waves. Also, when delving into esoteric matters, the synchs tend to jump out more frequently. The Trickster senses that you're setting foot into his territory, I suppose.<br><br>Although I've studied the subject for decades, I couldn't begin to explain why synchronicities happen. I don't think they serve as guidance (though they can within the context of divination systems), but I do think they alert us to "pay attention." And the bigger synchs (those that seem to have inherent meaning or importance) provide a pleasant rush of the numinous, a sense of connection to life. Maybe that's the most important thing. <p></p><i></i>
