IMHO, viral marketting. It's odd to begin with that a UFO website consists solely of video clips, and not written accounts. It grows odder when we read the FAQ, and find that they're no longer accepting UFO reports, and that while all of the site's content has been sold to an unnamed documentary producer, TV news shows are enocuraged to use the clips royalty-free, so long as they mention the source. What clinches it for me is when I look at WHOIS, and find that the domain was only registered on June 3rd of this year, and was registered by an Alan Stewart of Melbourne.

Domain Name: AUSTRALIANUFOWAVE.COM
Reseller..............: PlanetDomain
Created on............: 3 Jun 2006 17:31:58 EST
Expires on............: 3 Jun 2008 03:31:57 EST
Record last updated on: 3 Jun 2006 17:31:58 EST
Status................: ACTIVE

Owner, Administrative Contact, Technical Contact, Billing Contact:
Allan Stewart (ID00250889)
level 3
538 Collins St
Melbourne, Victoria 3000
Australia
Phone: +61.399234163
Email:
wearenotalone@mac.com

I'm willing to bet that this is Alan John Stewart, who's active in the SF fandom. He was one of the directors for the 1999 WorldCon (AussieCon III), and was also for many years the Australian correspondent for "The Ansible".
s_alanjs@eduserv.its.unimelb.EDU.AU used to be (and may still be) his main address, if anyone cares to write and ask him. The whole thing just looks fishy.

-Sepka the Space Weasel
