MKULTRA technology & handlers were outsourced to the Evangelical Christian Right, rather than the usual dead-end cesspool of "Satanist" cults that get fingered by Constantine et al.
I have not written at any length about my personal contention that the Jesuit order was the original MK program.
It takes a long time to realise that not all technologies have pistons, valves, silicon, or little wires and LED's conveniently placed to identify them as such. Or that users actually understand their use if it, or that they are in fact using 'technologies.' Culture, there's one example. The hardest thing is to maintain an ability to care, when one's own love, one's mind, is just such a tool. Individuals don't often know what they're doing, culpable in a lesser sense.Groups are canny in ways which are hard to predict, control or perceive. If such controls did not already exist, could we have the imagination to re-vision, to re-invent them differently? Wheels re-inventing wheels, within wheels. History is replete with attempts. There's no sterile environment in which to create a clean break from the past. But seemingly, that's pretty much all we try to do.
An old friend of mine once told me, "Religion is bio-degradable because as soon as the organisms get hold of it, it turns to shit."
Ideologies have always outlived the moment of their necessity. Our landscape is littered with them and their iteratively attenuating limbs. Centuries, millenia after the feast, the microbes dine, the fruit and the poison, the narrative urge itself.
