After a time, even slow people get tired of being treated like they are idiots.

Fortunately even slow folk have better moral sense than the brainwashed pundits braying on about Israels 'right to exist'.

(Where is hypnotism today? -repetition anyone?)

The Israeli 'project' requires the moral inversion of all of humanity, -not gonna happen.

http://www.independent.co.uk/voices/com ... 41240.html
Robert Fisk

There was a time when our politicians and media had one principal fear when covering Middle East wars: that no one should ever call them anti-Semitic.
So corrosive, so vicious was this charge against any honest critic of Israel that merely to bleat the word “disproportionate” – as in any normal wartime exchange rate of Arab-to-Israeli deaths – was to provoke charges of Nazism by Israel’s would-be supporters. Sympathy for Palestinians would earn the sobriquet “pro-Palestinian”, which, of course, means “pro-terrorist”.

Or so it was until the latest bloodbath in Gaza, which is being so graphically covered by journalists that our masters and our media are suffering a new experience: not fear of being called anti-Semitic, but fear of their own television viewers and readers – ordinary folk so outraged by the war crimes committed against the women and children of Gaza that they are demanding to know why, even now, television moguls and politicians are refusing to treat their own people like moral, decent, intelligent human beings.

Yet still – every time another blood-soaked child appears on the screen – the news presenters talk about the “blame game”. BLAME GAME? Do they think this is a bloody football match? Or a bloody tragedy? It goes like this. Civilians are killed. Reporters call it “tank fire”. (Hamas has no tanks.) Israel says it is a misfired Hamas rocket. Hamas says it is Israel’s work. So it’s a “blame game”. No one can actually BE blamed – and thus we can shrug off the responsibility and shake our head at it all.

And we must forget we did the same when US bombs killed civilians in Tripoli in 1986 (a “misfired Libyan anti-aircraft missile”, I recall, was to blame) or when the Nato attack on the Shuala district of Baghdad killed civilians in 2003 (a “misfired Iraqi anti-aircraft missile” was to blame, of course). Several Americans have called me to point this out, adding that the US Senate vote of 100-0 in favour of Israel sounds a bit like the 98 per cent that Arab dictators claim for their presidency – except that the US vote, which does not represent them, really was the true figure!

Now to the get-out clause of all of us. Yes, Hamas is corrupt, cynical, ruthless. Most of its “spokesmen” are so stupid, so incoherent, so prone to bawling abuse at the top of their voices, that they far outdo the ever-so-gentle Mark Regev in turning the world against Hamas. But the world is turning against Israel, as EU ministers repeatedly (though ever so gently) tell the Israelis. And it’s turning against our politicians and media masters who go on insulting them.

How many times does The New York Times expect its readers to tolerate editorials like last week’s pusillanimous effort? There had been “deadly attacks” in Gaza, readers were told. The total dead came to 750, “a vast majority being Palestinians”. And then the get-out: there were “competing charges” – Israel or Hamas or a Hamas ally – over the attack, and thus “what really matters now is that some way be found to stop this carnage”. So that’s OK, then. “Blame game” equals “no blame”.

In France, there’s been derision at the way the government has reacted to Gaza’s calvary. François Hollande wanted Israel to “correct” its aim “a bit” (un peu)! He criticised Hamas’s aggression and Israel’s reprisals. But then an angry Benjamin Netanyahu came on the blower to the Elysée. Change of tune. Hollande uttered the usual mantra. “Israel has the right to take all measures to protect its people.” But then French Assembly members became so sickened by the “collective punishment” of the Palestinians that Hollande urged an end to the “escalation” in violence. Phew.

In Ireland, traditionally pro-Palestinian, The Irish Times, alas, has been playing the same tune as its New York namesake. On the day after Israel bombed a UN school, killing 19 civilians, it ran a front-page article which began with Israel’s declaration of a ceasefire, continued with a paragraph of the truce details, then ran a paragraph that Hamas had no reaction – and then told its readers about the 19 dead. A reader castigated the paper for “balancing” its letters page with correspondence designed to make the Palestinians look as guilty as the Israelis. “Such disinterest is really a kind of moral apathy,” he said. And said it rather well. The world can at least thank the journos in Gaza – even if their bosses are still on the run.

How silly of me to assume it was Israeli bombs causing all the damage in Gaza
It’s clearly just a batch of explosive toasters

I bet if we went back to Hiroshima and checked what happened more thoroughly, we’d discover the blast was nothing to do with an atom bomb, and was caused by a booby-trapped kettle. I hope consumer programmes in Gaza cover this issue, to warn people of the dangers. The Gaza edition of Watchdog this week should start: “We’ve received several complaints from those of you who bought one of these toasters from Hamas, and were surprised when it caused your entire street to explode.”

You are making an allegation that bluenosecaret is a member of Stormf3nt - please provide evidence of that or withdraw it.

Or are you just engaged in manure-spraying and hoping that some sticks?

Also, provide evidence that you are doing ANY of the things you claim. Your language is elitist, tribal and exclusionary. Shame on you.

You have never come out against B'nai Brith, the ADL, the SPLC, JINSA, the JDL or speaking against Hasbara. In fact, you seem to gain Solace from the latter. Motes and eyes and beams comes to mind... breathtaking sanctimonious hypocrisy on your part. You truly do expect one set of rules for yourself (Do not interfere with my private TIDS project!)
and another for everyone else (Off topic metaposts and personal flaming wherever you want).
I still find it amazing that you argued against the case that Israel is on the road to becoming a racist fascist state. Your whole thought process is driven by the underlying metaphor of 'contagion' and 'infection'.

Apart from that, have a nice day. :bigsmile

After bluenoseclaret begins to make themself accountable on a consistent basis for their activity here, I might possibly respond to the rather weak- but ongoing- attempts to run interference for the sort of racism being promoted around here.

bluenoseclaret, are you ready to take responsibility for your actions?

Israel lashing out like a cornered rat: Analyst

The Israeli regime has become like a “cornered rat” because its massacre of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip is speeding up its own annihilation, a political analyst writes for Press TV.

Israel is not behaving like a confidently powerful regime, Kevin Barrett wrote in an article for the Press TV website, adding, “Instead, it is desperately lashing out like a cornered rat in the final throes of rabies.”

He said Tel Aviv has been trying to show itself as a powerful regime that can drop nuclear bombs on the European capitals and the Middle East, but these are just an “illusion.”

The analyst said Israel’s plan to carry out the current aerial and ground offensive in Gaza has backfired, as on one hand, it sparked a “seismic shift in world public opinion,” and on the other, it has “attained none of its announced strategic objectives,” including destroying Hamas and stopping rocket fire.

“Netanyahu had apparently hoped that when Israel slaughtered Palestinian children, the Palestinians would blame Hamas. Instead, the Palestinians (and the world) blame Israel.... Every last bit of Zionist-inflicted suffering elicits more strength and determination to resist Zionism by any means necessary, and to support whoever promises to fight the Zionists the hardest. And that goes for people all over the world, not just in Palestine,” Barrett pointed out.

He cited reports indicating that Israel will not exist in near future, as the US, its lone supporter on the world stage, will soon “turn against the Zionist entity” over its genocide in Gaza. ( I think he is dreaming)

“Israel's leaders know that time, history, and demographics are working against them. They know that apartheid South Africa, a racist regime that was not nearly as vicious or genocidal as Israel, was erased from the pages of time by a changing current of global public opinion very similar to today's rising tide of anti-Zionism,” he added.

So far, more than 1,700 people have been killed and over 9,000 injured since Israel began its offensive against the coastal silver on July 8.

Palestinian resistance fighters continue their rocket attacks against Israeli cities in retaliation for Tel Aviv’s relentless onslaught on the blockaded Gaza Strip. Tel Aviv puts the Israeli death toll from 26 days of attacks at 66, while Hamas puts the number at more than 150.

In Pictures: Gaza Devastation
Displaced Palestinians returned to inspect the damage of their homes during Friday's brief ceasefire.

"Displaced Palestinians across the Gaza Strip took advantage of a brief ceasefire on Friday to inspect their homes. But the lull in fighting was short-lived - within two hours, the truce collapsed with Israel and Hamas blaming each other for violating the agreement.

Thousands of buildings have been damaged since Israel began bombardment of the besieged territory on July 8. Mosques, hospitals, residential buildings and schools have been targeted."

Israel's propaganda machine is finally starting to misfire...Patrick Cockburn

"Israel's 'dream of Israeli and Palestinian children playing together' is somewhat hypocritcal when you look at the 230 (plus) children killed in Gaza.

To many readers the New York Times coverage of the war in Gaza comes across as neutered or as having a pro-Israeli bias. But not to Ron Dermer, the Israeli ambassador in Washington, who lambasts the paper for failing “to mention that a million Israelis were in bomb shelters yesterday as 100 rockets were fired at our civilian population.”
Mr Dermer is considered so close to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that he has been called “Bibi’s brain”. He is also a former student and employee of Frank Luntz, the Republican strategist who produced a confidential booklet in 2009, promptly leaked, advising Israeli spokesmen how best to manipulate American and European public opinion. “Don’t confuse messages with facts,” Dr Luntz advises the spokesmen as he explains how facts should be selected and best presented to make Israel’s case.

It is a sophisticated document based on wide-ranging opinion polls, suggesting, for instance, that the removal of Israeli settlements from the West Bank should be denounced as “a kind of ethnic cleansing”. Dr Luntz stresses that spokesmen must demonise Hamas, but above all emphasise that they feel for the sufferings of Palestinians as well as Israelis. As a sample of what they should say, he gives: “The day will come when Israeli children and Palestinian children will grow up together, play together, and work together side-by-side not just because they have to but because they want to.”

The problem about this approach is that it sounds particularly hypocritical when, according to Unicef, 230 children have been killed in Gaza, an average of ten a day, and 2,000 have been wounded by Israeli bombs, shells and bullets. Israeli spokesmen are now denying their responsibility for the most notorious and televised atrocities such as the strike on the UN hospital last week. This is an old PR tactic, though not one recommended by Dr Luntz, which is sometime referred to as “first you say no story, then you say old story”. In other words, deny everything in the teeth of the evidence on day one and, by the time definitive proof of the massacre comes through, nobody notices when you have to admit responsibility.

A problem here is that propaganda that works in a short war comes back to haunt you in a longer one. This is now happening in Gaza. Israeli air and artillery strikes and Hamas mortars and rockets are often presented as if they balanced each other out in terms of lethality. But the most important statistic here is that some 1,100 Palestinians have been killed as opposed to three civilians in Israel.

Despite his tutoring by Dr Luntz, Mr Dermer only speaks these days to the converted. Attending a Christians United for Israel Summit in Washington he replied to protesters who called him a “war criminal” by saying that “the truth is that the Israeli Defence Forces should be given a Nobel Peace Prize”. Stuff like this may explain why a Gallup poll shows that among Americans aged between 18 and 29 some 51 per cent said Israel’s actions were unjustified while only 23 per cent said they were.

For all the good advice of Dr Luntz there are signs of Israeli leaders getting rattled. Mr Netanyahu complained on CNN that Hamas wants “to pile up as many civilian dead as they can” and “to use telegenically dead Palestinians for their cause.” Even the best propaganda machine cannot explain away massacres of civilians as happened in Lebanon at Sabra and Shatila in 1982 and at Qana in 1996 and 2006".

Jerusalem…Ramallah…Hebron Nablus…Jenin…Jericho…Bethlehem

GAZA
We are with you

Palestine is a nation in the making. Today, Palestinians in the Gaza Strip are facing state terrorism by Israel, which seeks to destroy Palestinian society and deny the implementation of their internationally recognized rights. This latest episode in Israel’s bloody attempt to eliminate Palestinians from Palestine is accompanied by a belligerent campaign of war propaganda and misinformation.

The United Nations has failed. Diplomacy has failed. Negotiations have failed. Civil uprisings have failed. The U.S.-led Quartet has failed. Donor states have failed. Democratic elections have failed.

While we are convinced there is no military solution for either side, we support the Palestinians’ legitimate right to resist foreign military occupation and to defend their citizens. These are the most fundamental rights of any people, and the duty of those who govern them.

We support, as prescribed by United Nations General Assembly Resolution 194, Palestinian refugees’ right to return to their homes that they were forced from in 1948. Eighty-five percent of those living (and dying) in Gaza are refugees from 1948 and are today―66 years of occupation later―being forced to flee their temporary homes, yet again, under fire from Israel’s genocidal military madness.

We express solidarity with the Palestinian people, especially the 60% of Gaza’s population who are under the age of 16. We are deeply pained and saddened at the horrific, tragic loss of life that has resulted from this most recent Israeli military onslaught.

Palestine wants peace with justice. But Palestine’s longing for peace will not lessen its determination to end the illegal, 47-year Israeli military occupation that violates all basic human and civil rights.

1948…1967…1982…1987…2000…2002…2006…2008/9...2012…and now 2014

bluenose's history of approvingly posting racists' propaganda about Jews, largely indistinguishable from Nazi talk, may have just a touch to do with AD being drawn to respond in this case. It's easy to posture most of the time with your own copy-pastes as a mere critic of Israeli actions and as the big friend of the Palestinians only looking for justice - how many people are disagreeing with that on this board? - win sympathy for that, and then throw in the occasional turd for kicks.

just because I don't like AD's self appointed mod ship

solace only comes around to call me an anti-semite but you all quite conveniently ignore his shit...

or maybe Jack and Rory agree with solace

find some PROOF solace or shut the f'ck up...go ahead search all my 60,000 posts one more time and come up with something or leave me alone ..QUIT STALKING ME..how many times have you gotten away with calling me an anti-semite here?
Mazars and Deutsche Bank could have ended this nightmare before it started.
They could still get him out of office.
But instead, they want mass death.

To the family of the one thousandth victim of Israel’s genocidal slaughter in Gaza
Ilan Pappe..... The Electronic Intifada

I do not know yet who your loved one was. She might have been a baby a few months old, or a young boy, a grandfather or one of your children or parents. I heard about your loved one’s death from Chico Menashe, a political commentator on Reshet Bet, Israel’s main radio station.

He explained that the killing of your loved one, as well as turning Gaza neighborhoods to rubble and driving 150,000 people from their homes, is part of a well-calculated Israeli strategy: this carnage will destroy the impulse of Palestinians in Gaza to resist Israeli policies.

I heard this while reading in the 25 July edition of the supposedly respectable Haaretz the words of the not so respectable historian Benny Morris that even this is not enough.

He calls the genocidal policies so far “refisut” — feebleness of mind and spirit. He demands far more massive destruction in the future with the knowledge that this is how you behave if you want to defend your “villa in the jungle,” as former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak described Israel.

Inhuman wilderness

Yes, I am afraid to say the Israeli media and academia are fully behind the massacre apart from few, hardly audible voices in this inhuman wilderness. I am not writing this to tell you that I am ashamed — I long ago dissociated myself from this state ideology and do all I can as an individual to confront and defeat it. Probably it has not been enough; we are all inhibited by moments of cowardice, egotism and maybe a natural impulse to take care of our family and loved ones.

And yet I feel the urge today to make a pledge to you, which none of the Germans my father knew during the time of the Nazi regime was willing to make to him when the thugs committed genocide against his family. This is not much of a pledge at your moment of grief, but it is the best I can offer and saying nothing is not an option. And doing nothing is even less than an option.

This is 2014 — the destruction of Gaza is well documented. This is not 1948 when Palestinians had to struggle hard to tell their story of horror; so many of the crimes Zionist committed then where hidden and never came to light, even until today. So my first and simple pledge is to record, inform and insist on the truth.

My old university, University of Haifa, has recruited its students to disseminate Israel’s lies all over the world using the Internet, but this is 2014 and propaganda of this kind will not hold water.

Pledge to boycott

But surely this is not enough. I pledge to continue the effort to boycott a state that commits such crimes. Only when the Union of European Football Associations throws Israel out, when the academic community refuses to have any institutional ties with Israel, when airlines hesitate to fly there, and when every outfit that may lose money because of an ethical stance in the short-term understands that in the long run it will gain both morally and financially — only then we will begin to honor your loss.

The boycott, divestment and sanctions (BDS) movement has had many achievements and continues its tireless work. The obstacles still include the false allegation of anti-Semitism and the cynicism of politicians. This is how an honorable initiative by British architects to force their colleagues in Israel to take a moral stance rather than be accomplices in the criminal colonization of the land was blocked at the last moment.

Similar initiatives were sabotaged elsewhere by spineless politicians in Europe and the United States. But my pledge is to be part of the effort to overcome these hurdles. The memory of your loved one will be the driving force, together with the vivid memory of the suffering of the Palestinians in 1948 and ever since.

Slaughterhouse

I do it all egotistically. I really pray and hope that in this worst moment of your life when Palestinians stand in Shujaiya, Deir al-Balah or Gaza City, gazing at the slaughterhouse created by Israeli warplanes, tanks and artillery, you would not lose hope in humanity.

This humanity even includes Israelis, those who do not have the courage to speak but who express their horror in private as my overflowing email and Facebook inboxes attest, as well as the small handful who demonstrate publicly against the incremental genocide in Gaza.

It also includes those not born yet who perhaps will be able to escape a Zionist indoctrination machine that teaches them, from cradle to grave, to dehumanize the Palestinians to such a level that the burning alive of a sixteen-year-old Palestinian boy fails to move them or shatter their belief in their government, army or religion.

Defeated

For their sake, mine and yours, I wish we can also dream of the day after — when Zionism will be defeated as the ideology that governs our lives between the Jordan river and the Mediterranean sea and we all have the normal life we crave for and deserve.

So I pledge today not to be distracted even by friends and Palestinian leaders who still foolishly pin their hopes on the long-gone “two-state solution.” If one has the impulse to be involved in bringing regime change in Palestine, the only reason to do this is for a struggle for equal human and civil rights and full restitution for all those who are and were victimized by Zionism, inside and outside the beloved land of Palestine.

May whoever is your loved one rest in peace knowing that their death was not in vain — not because it will be avenged and revenged. We do not need more bloodshed. I still believe there is a way of bringing evil systems to an end with the power of humanity and morality.

Justice also means bringing the murderers who killed your loved one and so many others to court, and we must pursue bringing Israel’s war criminals to trial in international tribunals.

It is a far longer way and, at times, even I feel the impulse to be part of a force that uses hard power to end the inhumanity. But I pledge myself to work for justice, full justice, restorative justice.

This is what I can pledge — to work to prevent the next stage in the ethnic cleansing of Palestine and the genocide of Palestinians in Gaza.

I appreciate your comments. Just to be clear on my position re Israel / Palestine - best described as

I have seen the same behavior directed against myself( I was ok with AD till i dared to use the word Annunaki, you know cos I am into things ancient astronauts to ancient civilization, but then I developed DangerDangerMindEbola; slad, slim and Alice as is currently happening now with reams of interminable CopyPasta on the Egypt thread. As a case in point, contrast stefano's engagement with Alice with AD's CP drive-by. When one objects to this, it is framed as bullying. Probably 90% of the issues are about due process and equal application of board rules - they are not about whether bnc is a Nazi. When I went back over his posts, he started getting "The Treatment" after posting from PressTV. As slad pointed to, what is good enough for bluenoseclaret is good for American Dream and for Solace, aka Ms Hasbara Drive-by.

And perhaps bnc should actually say something himself.
