How about doing something democratic - drawing up a shortlist of potential mods and voting on it? I'd like to see Neon in the candidate list.

there is a very simple easy solution to this problem...all Israel/Palestine...anti-semitic/fascist nazi OP's should be posted in the sub forum...all this drama in GD would stop immediately ......why can't this be done...why isn't it done? We have the forum set up already...why can't it be used?

re: Neon - maybe adding a different tone of moderation (in complement to those already encumbered) might engender a less harsh board.

This puzzles me also to as it is an obvious action. I can only imagine that someone feels the need for an excitable and incontinent Rottweiler right at the front entrance, like there is an army of typhoid Mary's waiting to board as soon as the guard is dropped.

It might even work both ways, in a subforum the topic(s)s may even flourish due to the lack of rolling-eyes. Does the forum really need an entire new moderator to make this happen?

that sh!t flies at this place? what has the lizard proved? who other than God and the lizard knows whether or not jakell is a racist? what he is attempting to do is marginalize a poster based on his own self appointed slanderous personal criteria. at litmus test to participate. he's running a political party not discussing anything. there's no engagement there's no learning, he's already got all the answers. and you will observe, he will not move from that platform. he can't afford to, one, after all he's invested, and two, he's got nothing else.

it's not like I haven't refuted all this stuff (or minor variations of it) countless times already, I stopped responding in full about the time we got into double figures. I don't want to participate in someone else's groundhog day.
