Great link, thanks for passing it on Wolf. I really dig Chris Floyd's style of upbeat, provocative and engaging writing that retains a good-humour intensity despite the often weighty, appallingly-bleak subjects he reports on. I usually read him on The Moscow Times, Counterpunch and Nation -- I didn't know he had a blog (I shoulda looked) or that it's been underutilized. I'll definitely make it a routine stop.

Its a rare gift how Floyd can find a bit of brave levity in something ordinarily dark, such as: "As many Iraqis said at the time of Bush's invasion and Saddam's ouster: "The pupil has gone; the master has arrived." Now the master's new pupils are teaching the same old lessons."

I esp. liked his parodic commentary on the absurd perversity of hiring Saddam's goons to preserve the new, improved version of Law and Order, "Leader attacked and destroyed a sovereign nation in an unprovoked war of aggression - was described demurely as "an unusual compromise." (As opposed to, say, "a moral outrage," or "a putrid stain on America's honor," or "a monstrous copulation of rapacious conquerors with bloodthirsty scum.")' What a unique gift that pays homage to the indefeatable human spirit, that gives a sense of creative, resourceful strength and inspires us to persevere.

Starman
