message board distractions

Postby smiths » Thu Sep 29, 2005 11:31 pm

felt rather strange seeing the locked symbol on a thread, read the thread and got to jeffs obviously reluctant final statement and wondered what the hell is going on,
theres a lot of distraction going on lately around here, the serious news and issues posts and questions get lost down the line replaced by shit about jesus and protocols of zion,
the lock is not just a random blip, i think an attack of fuzzy sludge is occuring,
i shall watch these names and posts with interest,

if you are here to spoil and distract, have a good hard look at yourself and what you want out of life, or alternatively just please leave quietly,

indeed

This is certainly true. There are spoilers everywhere, sponsored and unsponsored. Both should be dealt with harshly. They cause much time to be lost running in circles and in falling back. Always falling back.

Philosophy will triumph over most things, before all is done.

It's too bad Jeff had to take action. It's all downhill from here.

blah, i didn't think there was anything wrong at first... just the usual suspects who choose to attack rather than ignore posts they don't like.

I really want to add one little tidbit but didn't want to get the anti-semetic screamers going. Here it is:

Right now in the Ukraine people are slightly freaking out over the elections in Poland.. why? Because Poland is something near 90% catholic, but the totally Jewish PiS party is winning most of the seats in the government. Now, this shouldn't be a big deal.. except for the situation of Germans suing to get back buildings they built/took during their invasion, and Jews suing to get back their belongings that were in the demolished properties. How do we know the PiS party are totally Jewish? The flag of Isreal waves in the background of their political TV ads [yes, i've seen them with my eyeballs] and the Polish flag is only on their neckties.
Why does the Ukraine care? Because THIS party has a strong pro-US and anti-Ukraine stance. This is bad for the region in many ways (ie. ORANGE). Plus the Ukraine and other ex-USSR countries are somewhat confused as to how these guys are winning, but some of us are wondering if it's simply the "lesser evil" vote.
Thank you for thinking about this and not screaming anti-semite at my pointing out this unusual election.

I would have posted this on its own.. but I put it here in hopes of not 'distracting' those that would go nuts on it.

pretty sure Jeff was concerned about the fascist posts...not the ones pointing out the fascism.

I think Jeff did the right thing by locking that thread at that point. I think a clarification from Jeff could be useful, though, because some people here seem to misunderstand why the thread got locked...

Jeff has clearly stated that overtly fascist or anti-semitic posts are not welcome. Arguing that the Protocols are real falls into that category, in my opinion, in addition to the utter stupidity of it (I'm actually genuinely surprised that there still are seemingly intelligent people who believe that). It appears that the moderator of this forum is of the same opinion.
Qutb means "axis," "pole," "the center," which contains the periphery or is present in it. it's a shame that thread got locked, but I suppose I understand the reasoning. i'm more of a lurker here, but I thought that alot of the regular posters were doing a good job challenging the rascist/fascist posts in that thread. and i think that was good to see.
