The theater is the corporatocracy's brain-stem, to echo Barrie Zwicker from long ago. Not all is scripted, no one is ever fully in control. I think you'd agree, with regard to your metaphor, that there would be a difference between the theoretical extremes (among many possibilities) of the audience taking over the stage and turning off the show and detaining the producers... or marching out with torches as a lynch mob looking for the nearest wretched scapegoat.
