Dismissing Flocco et al. at this point is not censorship.

When someone has a track record of spreading manure, it's only fair to point out his or her unreliability.

A tasty story may give you a thrill, but just because you want it to be true doesn't mean it is true. So what happened...

Bush 'can' do anything he can get away with, which considering the list of things he's gotten away with--stealing two elections and starting a war based on bullshit are right at the top--doesn't leave much out.

He could fire Fitzie, even without a legal leg to stand on. If the Supremes decided Bush v. Gore for him, come ON.

He could order Fitzie 'rendered' to Bumfuckistan to be cut into half inch squares, or order up a plane crash, or a hit and run.

The question is, can he withstand the heat if he shitcans Fitz, or Fitz disappears or has an 'accident.'

I freely admit I just skimmed the CS article I found at the Yurica Report but I don't get his reasoning--maybe Comey fixed it so as long as Fitz was on the job no one could canoodle with his powers, but by in effect making him an acting AG, if Bush could fire ANY AG, which he can, he can fire Fitz. What Comey did may be a 'brilliant legal maneuver' but plenty of those have been shot down by the courts. Again I would have thought Bush v. Gore put paid to any illusion the judicial system in this country is not subornable.

As to the question of why fire him now and not before he dug around--I can think of two reasons. One, see 'withstand the heat', above. Firing him kinda makes it obvious there's something to hide, no? The other is--there are two ways to handle being investigated. One is to try to thwart the investigator, the other is to try to USE him. If it's inevitable there's going to BE an investigation because the political fallout of squashing it would be too dangerous, then the best way to handle it is to decide WAY in advance who's going to be the patsy.

From the WaPo article I read about Scooter, he got elected, and frankly, it can only be good to remove someone named Scooter from public service, it's undignified. Sorry if I can't see Lincoln saying "This is the new Commander of the Union Forces, Scooter Grant." ("Stonewall" is not in the same category. Scooter conjures up a day care sandbox.)

If it goes up to Arnold Ziffel/Rove, it will only be to take him out of official capacity. Just because he no longer is on Bush's payroll hardly means he's going to melt like the Wicked Witch.

I see it as chess. You sometimes have to sacrifice your queen (you go Karla Turdblossom!).

Bush's reaction

Postby Peachtree Pam » Sat Oct 22, 2005 3:15 am

Good comments, banned. Here is a snippet from Conspiracy Planet. When Howard Hunt demanded a payoff from Nixon, I think he only asked for a couple of million. Guess this shows corruption payoffs are subject to inflation as well as anything else.

(snip)

"Another function of the White House Iraq Group was to discredit critics of the War on Iraq, like former Ambassador Joseph Wilson who was sent to Niger to investigate whether Saddam Hussein had nuclear war capabilities. When Wilson debunked the Bush White House claim that Iraq was getting "yellowcake" for its nuclear arsenal, the White House retaliated against Wilson by exposing his wife Valerie Plame Wilson as a covert CIA operative.

Since then, Bush dirty tricks expert and political advisor Karl Rove as well as Scooter Libby have been called before a grand jury by special investigator Patrick Fitzgerald to testify about the "outing" of Valerie Plame, a felony.

According to Washington sources, the indictment of Scooter Libby is imminent. Details of Libby's compensation for his sentence on behalf of the Bush Cheney Cabal are being worked out. Since he expects a sentence of 10 years, Libby is asking for $30 million -- if he pleads guilty as the fall guy. Vice President Dick Cheney is balking since he is expected to pay a large percentage of that payoff out of his own pocket."

www.conspiracyplanet.com/

Fitzgerald's support

Postby Peachtree Pam » Sat Oct 22, 2005 3:16 pm

From WMR:

October 22, 2005 -- Late in the day on Friday, October 21, President Bush nominated the US Attorney for Eastern Virginia, Paul McNulty, to replace departed James Comey as Deputy Attorney General. Bush's first pick, Timothy Flanigan, withdrew over his past ties to indicted GOP lobbyist Jack Abramoff.

McNulty has been the chief prosecutor in the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) espionage case involving ex-Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) and Pentagon analyst Larry Franklin, two former AIPAC officials, and Israeli spies. McNulty's case continues to look at other principal players in the espionage ring, including officials close to Karl Rove and John Bolton.

As reported previously by WMR, McNulty has shared evidence with CIA Leakgate Special Prosecutor Patrick J. Fitzgerald. The evidence primarily concerns forged Niger government documents that were laundered by Pentagon neocons through Rome. Also of interest to both McNulty and Fitzgerald are a number of names common to both investigations, including former Deputy Defense Secretary for Policy and Plans Douglas Feith.

Before he departed Justice, Comey appointed career Justice prosecutor David Margolis as Principal Associate Deputy Attorney General to serve as a firewall between recused Attorney General Alberto Gonzales and Fitzgerald. Comey's decision was based on the potential presence of Bush loyalist Flanigan as Deputy Attorney General.

PREDICTIONS: With Fitzgerald, McNulty, and Margolis now all on the same Justice Department team, the appointment of McNulty and his assistants into the number two spot at Justice spells real trouble for people like Rove, Libby, Cheney, and others, including Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld and his closest advisers who remain under investigation for their possible roles in the forged Niger documents as well as falsifying other intelligence in the lead up to the war in Iraq.

With Bush I National Security Adviser Brent Scowcroft (who was fired by George W. Bush on Cheney's advice as Chairman of the President's Foreign Intelligence Advisory Board) and Colin Powell's Chief of Staff at State, Jim Wilkinson, making public broadsides against the neocons, look for a wider chasm to develop between the Bush I Republicans and the neocons around Cheney.

The GOP last ditch strategy appears to be that the Bush I Republicans will take over the vacuum left after Cheney's departure and the indictments of leading neocons for their roles in both CIA Leakgate and AIPACgate. The strategy will also mitigate the indictments that will be handed down for leading GOP congressmen over their involvement in Abramoff's tainted money scandal. Look for GOP congressional "blue state" moderates to assume control from Tom DeLay, Roy Blunt, Bob Ney, and others.

Paul McNulty as Number 2 at Justice will insulate Fitzgerald and Margolis from neocon retaliation during the internal coup. The bottom line is that for his remaining three years in office, George W. Bush will no longer be taking orders from a "higher father," but from his own father and his closest associates: Scowcroft, James Baker, and others.

www.waynemadsenreport.com/
