I was avoiding this thread, mostly because I tend to collect brimstone in my wake sometimes, and was hoping to avoid making this more "fiery" than it probably already was.

However, upon seeing myself mentioned a few times, my egoistic nature has forced me to speak on my own behalf, as no one else can/should.

IR:

HH is in fact NOT a denotation for the devil, and I don't believe that I have ever given any indication that it was. To assume as much would merely be what I'll call "Christian bias". HH is my own creation, and has nothing whatsoever to do with any infantile conceptions of the "devil" or whatever such nonsense.

It is a "handle" I've been using for some number of years, which originally had NO implicit meaning, but was in fact the name of a "band" I was "involved" with during highschool, if you must know.

It has no historical relevance at all, and if you googled it, if you were really lucky, you might find my posts on some other bbs, but nothing else. I have continued so long in the usage of this name only for my own convenience, so that those who know me already can spot me when we "bump" into each other online. I am very active in the online "occult" community, as I am in its physical correlation in the "Real world".

Hope that helps some. Feel free to consider me the devil if you so choose. I'm sure HE doesn't believe in ME either.
-----

Lemme see if I can do this in something somewhat resembling a method...
--
re: DE said: (snips)

--
"Contrary to how this might sound, I actually do not mean to "disparage" HH."
--

Never assumed you did, personally. Always saw this as nothing more than friendly conversation about obviously very "hot" subjects. Please realize that I like you better than most of the folks here, which is why I give it to you as hard as I do. I also didn't "oust" you on purpose, in fact, I wasn't sure you were YOU (?) until you said so.

--
"I don't agree with even his basic (I'd have to say conservative) political philosophy and I have all kinds of reservations about Thelema and Crowley, but his posts are always knowledgeable and intelligent."
--

You're the first person who has ever called my political philosophy "conservative", most people regarding me as being more left than left goes. I guess its a matter of perspective. Couple this with the inability to discuss such things in depth here, and I can see how you might make this judgement. And MOST people have reservations about Crowley and Thelema. It is an expected reaction from those people who are unfamiliar with him/it on a personal level or whose only familiarity is based on "conspiracy theories" and/or "official" sources.

Oh, and thank you.

--
"And though I also have concerns FOR HH which I've shared (his missing time in an airforce "gifted" program, for example), he seems to be telling the truth as he sees it and is so open that, to be honest, just about anyone could probably locate him if they wanted to. I'm not sure he should actually be THAT free with info, actually, given his current reported anti-abuse campaign."
--

Well, without giving MORE away, I can tell you, that it doesn't really matter if they notice me. In fact, that is sort of the idea.

--
"However, I found it just a little strange that so many of the self described RA/MC victims on this site are so friendly with him. If you'll have a look at the "More satanic allegations" thread, which got completely derailed for awhile, you'll see what I mean. It almost looks flirtatious."
--

See above. I am a born distraction. I can take full responsibility for my part in derailing said thread. As far as flirtatious goes, well, I should hope my girl never sees it this way(I didn't until you mentioned it, but I never do, one of my problems). That would be bad.

You know, even Thelemites you the term "Crowleyite" as an insult. Do you know why?

Oh, and yes, I could quote literally hundreds of passages of Crowley's poetry which would seem to indicate he was "evil". Of course, besides this, I couldn't provide anyone with a shred of evidence that connects him to any actual "evil" practices (unless yoga and buddhist meditation are evil practices). Of course, Crowley himself cautions against a literal reading of any of his writings, being known for his purposefully obscure nature(due to the actual danger to the practicioner/others inherent in his occult methodology). He also had a penchant for "wallowing" in his role as a "black magician", seemingly enjoying even the negative attention he received, like most children with unsupportive/inattentive parents (his mother was the one who began calling him the Beast). I make no apology for Crowley, he was a bastard. But Thelemites do not worship him, nor do they even follow his teachings exclusively, a common misperception.

In regards to numbers, you could list ANY number and I could quote Crowley on the importance of that number. He was a numerologist, ALL numbers were important to him, although some figure more prominently than others.

DE/IR: Re: Numbers :
I would be more than willing to discuss the Thelemic "view" on any numerological issue, and/or (sometimes the same) the "view" from "mainstream" occultism. I personally find numerology fascinating, but don't put too much stock in it myself.
Generally speaking however, there are no "evil" numbers. Only neutral, which can be used as one chooses.

DE: You a brit?

Re: Crowley:

I shall attempt not to hijack this thread, so if there are significant questions to these statements, please persue them elsewhere, as I've hijacked more than enough threads already (I seem to have a reputation for it).

Edward Alexander Crowley was born to Puritanistic Parents. As a late adolescent he became involved with the Golden Dawn, a well-connected group of magicians and post-theosophists prone to infighting. Notable members include W.B. Yeats. Several books on his involvement are extant.

In 1904 he had a "religous experience" wherein he was informed that he WAS the Beast(his mother was right) of the apocalyptic scriptures, and it was his appointed task to prepare the world for a devastating series of wars which would lead, inexorably, to an age of Peace(HeruRaHa) and Justice(Maat). Being an occultist, Crowley, like many of his kind, was well versed in religious history and mysticism. He did not believe in "the devil" as exists only in Christian Myth (historical fact). His own path was Graeco-Egyptian in nature, coupled with Eastern Mysticism and Expansive consciousness techniques derived from various Sufist sects. He regarded himself as a "gnostic" and a "christian" even, in the sense of Gnosticism. His "path" consists of several "lodges" which teach occultism at different depths. On the outside is the "dungeons and dragons" kind of occultism, with "sex magick" at its head. On the inside, his "path" is a continuation of the old STAR cults of Sirius, which he likely picked up among the Sufi. The Occult interpretation of prophetic literature is very divorced from the mainsteam view, and is therefore ripe for misinterpretation. Crowley considered himself a "Beast", but it should be noted, he also considered Krisha, Christ, Gotam, Moses, and Mohammed (among others) to be the same sort of entity. It would take a lot of space to explain the intricacies of this interpretation, but it does not differ significantly from mainstream occult views of this sort of literature.

After his death, his "lodges" we co-opted by American and British intelligence agencies, and shifted from their initial intent(massively), to the point where they often deny even his own teachings. It seems that several people whom he wished removed, in fact, ended up in charge. This should very much remove him from responsibility for their actions, but most people do not tend to study this information with the "rigor" required to understand even the tiniest farthing of it.

The Christan conspiracy machine welcomed a ready-made villain like Crowley, and are often among the first to pick and choose what to quote him on, normally whittling away the bits where he praises love and kindheartedness and gentlemanly behavior to focus on his "puns", normally they pick and choose from these too, tending to focus on anything that uses the word "sacrifice" (code for sex, only, as in the early 1900s one could be arrested for homosexuality, but not for writing about eating children). This has spun out of control to the point where even self-identifying "occult researchers" like JEFF (to pick one) often rehash thoroughly discredited "fables" about the Great Beast, without any source checking.
Example: Crow was "good friends" with Donston (suspected of being Jack the Ripper).

Crowley is considered remarkably important to occultism in the west for several reasons. His association with the founders of both "Chaos magic" (Spare/Grant) and WICCA (Gardner), the two most pronounced forms of modern western occultism. His association with "Satan" is infamous, even given his total lack of belief in Satan. He also makes a good boogeyman.

As far as fascism goes, it could be noted that Crowley once thought, even planned, to introduce Adolf Hitler to his "religion". It could also be noted that several of Crow's followers were held by German authorities in Camps, and that Crowley's occult groups were among the first to be "liquidated" by the nazis in germany. It can also be noted that Crowley passively aided both British and American intelligence agencies during WW2 in operations centered on Germany's Thule Occultists. All of this is fairly well documented. ("M" from James Bond fame, as well as "Bond" himself, were members of Crowley's Argentum Astrum--the sirius cult--it is even suggested that "007" was the chosen moniker because of the connection to Dr. John Dee, the Elizabethean Magus)

Insofar as Fascism goes, Crowley eventually came to his senses in regards to Hitler, and spent much of the rest of his life untangling his cult from those who "fell in" with the German fascists. Of course, this effort was for nought, as shortly after his death, the Americans and British, now thoroughly infused with Nazis, reintegrated his societies with those other.

--------

I hope that helps a little. If I am overly confusing and you have a small question feel free to ask, if it is a LARGE question, we should take it elsewhere.

BTW: I came to "conspiracy theoru" from the occult, not the other way around, like most of you apparently have. I am young, but have been seriously studying this area for the greater portion of my life. I sometimes drag subjects away from where they've been heading because things jump at me that might not jump at others. This is not done to harm, but because I have sincere interest in helping others to understand the complexities of the occult, and how it can be made to help the rest of some CT's make sense.

God that was long winded.

Love is the Law,
Love under Will :.

Cheers.
SHCR
