so whats the story with dave emory?

usually the conspiracy theory researchers out there have some sort of achilles heel. usually it has to do with who they "blame" for the Big Plot. jews, masons, amway, cfr/bliderberger, globalists, reptilians, jesuits (look out leonardo!), etc.

usually the blame becomes a turnoff for me. as in, "youve got some useful information, but everyones got an angle, and your whole 'judeo-british masonic luciferian' angle aint exactly workin, chief."

emory on the other hand is simple: todays bad guy is the same bad guy from before: its fascism. its an ism. competing elements of the same ism. in his opinion the 'underground reich,' a survival of ww2 that spread to the middle east, to central asia, to south america, to america, THROUGH islam, THROUGH tibetan buddhism, THROUGH american militant christianity, THROUGH moonies, etc.

this makes sense to me: religion is the best vehicle for transmission of the virus. the nazis made their own at home and used what was already in place everywhere else.

the problem is, im used to snifing out the angle, for context. i cant find it with emory. the closest i get is with his penchant to see nazis and underground reich stuff everywhere he looks. but guess what? the best 911 researcher out there im my book, daniel hopsicker, has his trajectory of investigating somehow dovetailing with emorys work!

one of the best 911 websites out there, cooperativeresearch.org (911 timeline) has a spot for the al taqwa bank, which i had heard about from listening to for the record programs. this is wierd, because like i said, im used to being able to find something, some kinda chink in the armor...im getting just the opposite from emory.

anybody wanna take a stab? who is this guy and whats his angle?

Only bad thing I know about Emory is that there was some sort of power struggle with the late Mae Brussel...or maybe over her archives. Others here will know about that.

I wonder if Emory has done much on the fascist nature of "(allegedly) anti-fascist conspiracy theory". A paradox, yes...but a common one.

Lyndon Larouche would be the best example off the top of my head. Most sophisticated of the lot. Always decrying fascism but his own movement evolved into a clearly fascist strain.

Many conspiracists decrying fascism are often, themselves, obsessed with various Jews, or subgroups of Jews or "not really the real Jews" or whatever. It's basically repackaged blood libel with Protocols of the Elders of Zion thrown in. David Icke was kind enough to replace Jews with reptilians in his later writings. But you'll often see these types decry fascism. I've even seen David Duke decry fascism.

Just wait...examples will likely show up on this thread now that I'm posting here and you can judge for yourself. Sorry about that.

Not just interpretation but little "poison pills" of wrong information. A slight exaggeration here or there and it goes off in a weird direction. Larouche has the most sophisticated private intel operation in the world (or used to), so yeah, he has access to all kinds of info. But how do you tease out what's true and what's not? Another complication with Larouche is his consistent approach of hitting on very legitimate topics (in my view, such as eugenics/population control) because the left won't touch this stuff. So he fills a void but what he fills it with is not good.

By the way, we've had lots of discussion on Larouche....but one part that always gets forgotten is the very totalitarian and cult-like tactics employed by the Larouchians.

ive had experience with this. you know how to get rid of them? tell them you are into the occult. thats what i did. i ordered their children of satan pamphlets and talked to a guy on the phone for a long time. told the guy i was interested in what they had to offer but also i was interested in learning more about the things they villified at the same time. the guy suddenly was in a hurry to get off the phone with me.

If you actually ever received any of those, be very cool if you could post scans in data dump. This is one area I have particular concern that LL and company mess up investigations. I've never seen the pamphlet though.

Mostly, the concept of an "Underground Reich" still strikes me as implausible, at least to the widespread extent that Emory posits. IMO Dave may well read too much unity and continuity into what could be a disparate series of neo-Nazi phenomena, and which might be better explained in different contexts.

And yet, if you go back into his archives, he's been perfectly straightforward and consistent in saying that he means what he says absolutely literally - he's talking about the Third Reich, gone underground.

Martin Boorman and everything. Now making a comeback, in a country near you.

It's still hard for me to take that anything other than metaphorically. And yet, he makes a great deal of sense. I've personally learned a lot from him. He's consistently had a lot of great guest interviews (with the, er, possible exception of John Loftus - which is a topic for another thread).

He brings up a lot of amazing things I never would have thought of otherwise. I mean come on, the link between the Royal House of Luxembourg and certain elements of the the Lakota Sioux? Um, well... in the bizarre panoply of fasicst "third position" ideologies, uhh... sure, okay, maybe...

Even with caveats, he's better than at least 90% of the other "conspiracy" sources out there.

Well, speculative links. And oops, it's Liechtenstein, not Luxembourg, though I think he went into the latter at some point recently too. It's FTR #550, "Going Native."

www.spitfirelist.com/f550.html

Edited by: albion at: 5/20/06 11:53 am
