Hi! I think it would be best if all alerts were responded to whether or not moderator intervention is warranted. If someone sends an alert and receives no response, they might wrongly believe their alert has been ignored or gone unnoticed.

However, when one sends an alert, one has the check-box option of being contacted about the alert, or not. I sent alerts a couple of times, and checked the "no reply necessary" box. If a reply's not needed, I figure I'll save the moderators some extra work.

Thanks for responding SRP. Seems like you guys should have a process that assures all posts are reviewed, but i suppose that is why we have the alert button.
I am not personally comfortable with an alert button, I would prefer open discussions on in house issues, so thanks also for considering this thread as a go to place for such concerns.
Maybe we could make this thread stick, or put it in the Announcements section above?

I wish I knew how to make this thread stick or put it in the Announcements. I think the Announcements are just for administrators, not mods. I asked Jeff if I could make a thread stick and he said I could, he just didn't explain how. I'll try asking again.

Thanks, Elvis. Not ever having felt the need, at least not remembering ever having used the feature, I did not know that. Pardon me Robert. I thought it a useful suggestion, not knowing receipt of alert was optional.

I didn't even know there was an alert feature. I'm guessing it's that exclamation point next to the quote function. In the rare instances I've had a concern, I always just PM'd the mods myself. *the more you know

I got in touch with Jeff and he gave moderators the power to do sticky threads! So at your request, I will keep this at the top of GD for the foreseeable future. Hope that helps.

I hope that problem has been solved .......if they have given up on the title change and I am working on my Russian so I can start posting in my thread again

I am ready and willing to move on if everyone else will let the past be the past


but check the RI quote thread it has spilled over there and suggestion to delete posts I say yes if BS agrees

I think that OP was started before the ban. Jeff didn't delete posts started prior. I don't think I will either. There's a Fuck Ron Paul floating around GD too.
