Halloween Music - Seasons of Wither

Post by IanEye »

ok, here is my RI Halloween music thread.
feel free to add anything that reminds you of the season

this song has always reminded me of Ichabod of Sleepy Hollow
it is by Aerosmith on thee "Get Your Wings" album
you sort of have to know the songs creepy haunted voices/wind/acoustic guitar intro to really get the full vibe though....
Seasons of Wither

blues hearted lady
sleepy was she
love for the devil
brought her to me
tears of a thousand
drawn to her sin
seasons of wither
holdin' me in

oooh woe is me, I feel so badly for you
oooh woe is me, I feel so sadly for you
in time
bound to lose
your mind
live on borrowed
time
take the wind right out of your sails

fire flies
dance in the heat of
hound dogs
that bay at the moon
my ship
leaves in the midnight
can't say
I'll be back too soon

soon they awaken
far far away
heat of my candle
show me the way
tears of a thousand drawn to her sin
seasons of wither old in the end

oooh woe is me, I feel so badly for you
oooh woe is me, I feel so sadly for you
in time
bound to lose
your mind
live on borrowed
time
take the wind right out of your sails

No Halloween would be complete without the Wicker Man's 'How do', brilliantly covered by the Sneakerpimps on their debut album.

Hey ho - who is this, no one but me my dear
Please come, say how do,
The things Ill give to you,
A stroke as gentle as a feather,
Hey ho - I am here, am I not young and fair,
Please come, say how do,
The things Ill show to you
Would you have a wondrous sight,
The midday sun at midnight,
Fair maid, white and red,
Comb you smooth and stroke your hair
"but I do know that you should remove my full name from your sig. Dig?" - Unnamed, Super Scary Persun, bbrrrrr....

that sneaker pimps cover is great. just watched the wickerman the other night.

i like my halloween listening a tad campier though.

non-stop misfits (w/ danzig only) & samhain in the days leading up to it.
black sabbth of course, and lots of other classic occult themed metal like venom, mercyful fate, bathory, celtic frost. doomy & gloomy.

tsol - "dance with me" is a good one too, and anything by dc's creepiest band Void.

i guess i like anything spooky that appeals to the denim vested, graveyard lurking, longhaired teens of the 80s.

Violent Femmes - Hallowed Ground

The prophet is a fool
the spiritual man is mad
For the multitude of thy iniquity
And the great hatred...

Everyone's tryin
to decide
where to go
when theres no place to hide
I follow the bombs as theyre coming down
This must have been
Hallowed Ground

Bauhaus - Bela Lugosi's Dead

White on white translucent black capes
Back on the rack
Bela Lugosi's dead
The bats have left the bell tower
The victims have been bled
Red velvet lines the black box
Bela Lugosi's dead
Undead undead undead
The virginal brides file past his tomb
Strewn with time's dead flowers
Bereft in deathly bloom
Alone in a darkened room
The count
Bela Logosi's dead
Undead undead undead

Tom Waits - Whistlin' Past the Graveyard

you probably seen me sleepin
out by the railroad tracks
go on and ask the prince of darkness
what about all thet smoke
come from the stack
sometimes i kill myself a jacket
suck out all the blood
steal myself a stationwagon
drivin through the mud

CHORUS: whistlin past the graveyard
steppin on a crack
i'm a mean motherhubbard
papa one eyed jack
On behalf of the future, I ask you of the past to leave us alone. You are not welcome among us. You have no sovereignty where we gather.

SHOOT YOUR IDOLS - "Trick or threat"

The only time of year we expect kids to take sweets from strangers

Or as a caller to local radio put it today.. "It's a license to say "Give us some money or we'll break your windows."

And having just been had by three little girls I know just how he feels.

et, thank you for the sampling, it was intense.

the overwhelming feeling i take away from it is one of immersion.

are you familiar with the works of:

Never heard either of them. TBH, despite working heavily in the genre for years I hardly ever listen to other people's material from it. What I do is a therapy of sorts and having a few people out there who appreciate the results is just an added bonus.

When the dust came to town, Ricky and the guys used to go down to the graveyard, and they'd tape themselves tripping on acid and mesc and dust.
They thought the devil possessed the tape, and there were all these, you know, different voices.[/url]

Season of the Witch

Author (depends on who you ask)

When I look out my window,
So many sights to see.
And when I look in my window,
So many different people to be.
That it's strange, so strange.
You've got to pick up every stitch,
You've got to pick up every stitch,
You've got to pick up every stitch.
Mm, must be the season of the witch,
Must be the season of the witch, yeah,
Must be the season of the witch.

When I look over my shoulder,
What do you think I see ?
Some other cat looking over
His shoulder at me.
And he's strange, sure he's strange.
You've got to pick up every stitch,
You've got to pick up every stitch,
Beatnicks are out to make it rich,
Oh no, must be the season of the witch,
Must be the season of the witch, yeah,
Must be the season of the witch.

You've got to pick up every stich,
The rabbits running in the ditch,
Beatnicks are out to make it rich,
Oh no, must be the season of the witch,
Must be the season of the witch,
Must be the season of the witch.

When I look, when I look out my window,
What do you think I see ?
And when I look in my window,
So many different people to be.
It's strange, sure it's strange.
You've got to pick up every stitch,
You've got to pick up every stitch,
The rabbits are running in the ditch,
Oh no, must be the season of the witch,
Must be the season of the witch, yeah,
Must be the season of the witch.
When I look, when I look...
