Reminder

Post by Hugh Manatee Wins »

Just a reminder that Jeff deletes my posts now and wrote a rule to segregate the science of language he doesn't even understand can't be segregated...largely because a few usernames act like trolls and go ballistic even while quite alot of others actually want to discuss what I post.

I had thought that dynamic wasn't around here but it is.

Not to demonize Jeff for running His board His way or to equate it with DU's overwhelmingly Operation Mockingbird-enforced culture.
Not even close.

And not to make this about Jeff vs me, either.
Just to dispel the illusion that any site is a pure haven of free speech.

And to say censorship ain't just DU. I've been censored here and there.

And it was never my aspiration to create one. "Havens of free speech" tend to find their natural level, which is a bedlam of noise.

Did you ever visit fuckedcompany.com in it's heyday?
Structure does emerge out of chaos.. sometimes I miss thread titles such as "What is the most exotic place you have had to take an unexpected dump" , which I have to say after 200 posts had changed my view of the human condition. Intra-dimensional UFO paradigms were mild after that

Geezus man. This shows how nasty the left can be. I thought they would be banning a thread questioning the origins of AIDS, not merely a thread discussing the very real world statistics of who is at risk.

DU isn't anywhere remotely near the left. Any discussant that promotes leftist ideologies at DU is quickly piled on despite, or perhaps because of, the fact that those who pile on are not even mildly versed in political theory and are intolerant of anything that challenges their assumptions.

And of course DU will stop any discussion about the origin of AIDS as well as any discussion about water fluoridation etc. So many topics- so few allowed.

DU is a conservative discussion group made up of mostly reactionary conservative liberals. The exceptions shine. They are now an endangered species at DU. Nearly extinct.

Groupthink is the operating principle at DU hence the unthinking allegiance to Obama.
Liberal thy name is hypocrisy. What's new?

Or how about history? That would be nice.

Exceptions do shine, however. And they often get hundreds of responses and recs.

I'm probably cruising for my second banning today. we'll see.

<on edit hour later>

... and BANNED again...

oh well. fuck it, the democratic party can kiss my ass. They're doing nothing but meekly rolling along with the fascists. I'm sick of these two parties playing good-cop/bad-cop or "mutt and jeff" with us.

Banned from DU

Post by BOOGIE66 »

I was banned from DU with no explanation, and no responses to any of my e-mails asking why, after posting this:

THEY STILL DON'T GET IT

April 20, 2005

The other day (4/19) was the 10th anniversary of the bombing of the Murrah Federal building in OKC.

While watching a CNN special about it that tried to remain objective by interviewing survivors (including some of the kids from the daycare) & relatives of people who died in tears, law enforcement officials calling McVeigh a “cold-blooded terrorist” and repeatedly asking “why would anyone attack innocent people, including kids?” I realized something. Whether by choice, or not most people don’t fucking get it, and they never will.

People will ask “why? why? why?” when something like this happens, yet if the answer isn’t to their liking (even if it’s the truth) they ignore it (or get mad at the answer) and keep asking “why?” and acting as if it were an isolated incident that sought innocent victims to kill, or maim with no reason. We saw the same thing with 9/11 and people’s reaction to it, as well as to the answer of “why?’.

During this special the burning down of the Branch Dividian compound at Waco (which 4/19 was the 12th anniversary of) got about 3 seconds as “the supposed reason evil terrorist Tim McVeigh bombed the Murrah building”.

Not one second was spent on the question of why the government hid behind Americans that day when it violated it’s own laws, or why it (as always) managed to find nothing in the FBI’s actions that day that placed it at fault for the deaths of 74 Dividians, nor why the federal government had lied about it along the way with false allegations of “child abuse” and “meth labs” trying to justify its actions, in violation of the law, that led to 74 people dying that April 19th.

Not one second was spent asking why the ATF hid behind children at the Murrah building, or questioning why the US government calls this “heinous” when governments in countries it bombs do it, but when the US does it and children die, it’s “terrorism”.

All that death and nothing mentioned about cause and effect, or reaping what you sow.

The Murrah Building was bombed in response to actions by the US government leading directly to the deaths of innocent people. The bombing killed 168 people.

The WTC were attacked in response to actions taken by the US government that led to the deaths of thousands of innocent people. The WTC attacks killed about 3,000 people.

Actions taken by the US government while hiding behind the flag, and Americans leads to retaliation(s) where large numbers of innocent people (who the government also hides behind ) die. 168 the 1st time, 3,000 the next.

How many innocent people have to die in the next attack (which will happen sooner or later) because the US government hides behind Americans while killing innocent people (in places like Iraq) before the so called mainstream of America stops asking “why”, and opens it’s fucking eyes?

It’s because so many people refuse to see, or accept that the US government does bad shit and hides behind America and Americans to do them. You don’t like it when America/Americans are attacked or killed, then why would any other country or group of people like it? Yet still many Americans support killing of innocent people as long as the government is doing it in their names, unless there are repercussions. In that case people just ignore what the government does that helped to cause said repercussions.

Until mainstream America stops allowing the government do do whatever it wishes in the name of Americans, and stops playing victim when people die because our government uses them as shields, or writes them off as “collateral damage” and realize that these things are a reaction to US government misdeeds (like invading a country and killing thousands in response to 9/11) and stops asking “why?” Then it’s only reasonable to believe this – They still don’t get it, and they never will.

I didn't mind the banning as much as I mind being banned for no reason, with no response to me asking why I was banned, as I had broken none of the stated rules of the site....

You remind me of a guy that comes to a house party and then picks an argument with over what tunes should be played, then gets all huffy when they're told to settle down and respect the house rules. Anytime you want to throw your own party and spin your own set of tunes, feel free, but if you stay then respect to the house DJ for opening his place up to strangers and abide by his rules.

So much wrong here but I'm going to leave be.
The common understanding chasm is way too wide with just a few... Though not at all with many others...funny how that gets minimized or left out altogether...

So weren't there photos of some DU admin at a DARPA conference of some kind?
I'm sure I saw them a few years ago.

There's nothing wrong with what I wrote. Jeff wrote the requests very plainly and numerous times asking you to refrain from hijacking discussions about wildly different subjects into ones revolving keyword hijacking. He has asked you and then finally warned you. My analogy to a belligerent guest not getting the message at a house party is entirely appropriate.

You drew the comparison to RI being like DU, not I, and to claim that Jeff is censoring you. If you wish to complain about Jeff's rules you are free to go start up your own forum and make your own rules there.

Truth is, HMW, if this was DU, you could have been tombstoned just for what you said on this post. Not that I think that would be anywhere near remotely the right thing to do, but they're on a hairtrigger over there.
