"I've said it before..."
Please, please stop saying that over and over and over again with or without the slightest trace of awareness of the irony of saying it over and over and over. Please.
It's painful to watch. really.

Re: into the dustbin, where it belongs
I'm possibly guilty, so to speak of this because I often write in a very anecdotal way. I usually use it as "I know, I've probably told this story before."
My ex would get super rude when I would begin telling a story and say "I know, 82_28, you've told me this a million times."
Thne we'd get into a fight. Ho hum.

I wasn't thinking of you. The person I was thinking of, if they read it, will know. Although I doubt they'll know why anyone would object.

Oh, BPH, I understood it wasn't about me. I was just saying I use it sometimes as an innocent turn of phrase myself when it comes to anecdotes and stories. Not the cudgel on your head that I think you meant.

Re: into the dustbin, where it belongs
My marriage.
I know, not a very elegant way to make the announcement, but I felt the urge to say something round these parts. I'm not a super-regular poster, but I'm lurking here almost every day, and I feel like I'm more in tune, at least in spirit, with the folks here than I am with most of the people I know and interact with in "real" life. I was debating which thread to drop this in, and after considering the Saloon, it's back alley, Regrets, and the Love Check thread, I settled on this one, as I believe fits the situation more poetically.
Things actually came to a head back on September 17th (2012 might not have heralded the end of the world, at least no more than any other year or moment in time does, but it certainly was a game changer for me personally). It wasn't by my choice, and I'm still slightly unstable about the whole thing, but I'm at the point where I can see through the emotions enough to realize that it will be for the best for all concerned in the long run. I don't regret that we made this journey together (though I most assuredly regret certain moments) as that would be to regret my wonderful daughters, who mean everything to me. But, we were well past our expiration date, if you will. Ah well. So it goes.

Re: into the dustbin, where it belongs
Thanks Jack. I appreciate the empathy. Please, though, don't anyone feel sorry for me. I've done more than my own share of damage over the years. Also, don't want this to derail the thread entirely, so if anyone else cares to offer their well wishes, you can find me at the saloon (or out back).
