perhaps the car was stolen via one of those newfangled electronic door unlockers, but the crook using the device got a 'bad' one that did more than unlock the door; or was just a whacked out nut who speed and wrecked the car accidentally. Meanwhile MH is so laying-low 'off-the-grid' he didn't immediately know this happened. Meanwhile the LA coroner lied about the test results (they assumed it was a forgone conclusion that it was really MH), and the on-going coverup is related to protecting that lie. So, once he's finished whatever story he's working on he'll resurface and point out that it wasn't him in the car.

By 1964 there were 1.5 million mobile phone users in the US
I'm a huge fan of Modern Family, the culturally diverse hit family tv show. I was rewatching a season 1(2009) episode today, and at the end of one of the episodes Cam and Mitchell are tripping out because their adopted 9 month old got locked in their car. They call On Star, and poof! On Star unlocks the door.
Just makes ya think
"Do you know who I am? I am the arm, and I sound like this..."-man from another place, twin peaks fire walk with me
well, they basically teach you how to do it in the Doc, so I'd expect many (all) of the new ones have nothing to do with the originator, the format forces a stylistic similarity.

Take it from a local, he's still alive. Or so I am pretty sure.

Not sure if I follow you here, are you suggesting Hastings is still alive or am I missing something?
Interesting thought if so. Anything is possible anymore.
I kinda wondered about that and thought that may be the case, thanks for clarifying. For some reason I cant see the video, it wont play for me, hence the confusion.
The "it" that the doc teaches the viewer is the construction of the tiles. However, in the city, there are new tiles being laid that match the typography and style of the originals very closely (it is generally believed that they are genuine). The importers and adherents' are pretty easy to spot.

BuzzFeed Creates Michael Hastings Reporting Fellowship By Chris O'Shea on July 17, 2013 2:15 PM
In honor of Michael Hastings — who died in a car accident on June 18 — BuzzFeed has created the Michael Hastings National Security Fellowship. According to the site, whoever gets the fellowship will recieve a $100,000 stipend for one year of reporting in the example set by Hastings:
The Michael Hastings Fellowship is aimed at proven journalists with strong sources and major stories to their credit who are interested in focusing for a year on a single subject and producing a series of stories on that topic. Proposed topics may include American foreign and national security policy; federal or local counterterrorism policy; the U.S. military; whistle-blowers; government secrecy; federal law enforcement; the military-industrial complex; veterans; human rights in conflict zones; and other related topics.
The reporter will work with BuzzFeed editors, and report to Ben Smith, the site’s editor-in-chief. The person will pen as few as six pieces and as many as “dozens.” Each piece will appear on BuzzFeed.
Uncle Sam's hackers: A new theory of the death of Michael Hastings (Yes, this is a long and discursive post. Bear with me. At the end, I'm going to introduce a new theory of the death of Michael Hastings.)

Just to list the connections made in this Cannonfire post, for those keeping score:
Barrett Brown Michael Hastings HBGary Endgame Breitbart Weinergate Ron Brynaert MZM In-Q-Tel ManTech Duke Cunningham
There needs to be a Venn Diagram.
Cannonfire's thesis seems to be that Hastings was following a story that made sense of these characters. Perhaps that the NSA and other private contractors are hacking for professional RW trolls such as Breitbart to bring down inconvenient politicians such as Anthony Weiner. That, Weinergate was a "proof of concept," and that those who seemingly went off the deep end in that story such as Ron Brynaert were actually on to something tangible.
nashvillebrook did you see Cannonfire mention starroute? If you run into her say hi for me will you?
Mazars and Deutsche Bank could have ended this nightmare before it started. They could still get him out of office. But instead, they want mass death. Don’t forget that.
