I was really enjoying not having General Discussion full of red triangles every day.

Jack, please, no "rotten liar" stuff -- the only one I could find in this thread was harmless:

I did not use the word hysterical in reference to you. I did not use that word at all.

I said you are hystericizing what I said. That implies a rational strategy to make things emotionally charged, so as to "win" the argument.

What argument? As far as I'm concerned, there isn't an argument. There is no right and wrong on any of this, it's a discussion. You have your opinion, and I have mine. We obviously don't agree and probably never will when it comes to this, but that doesn't justify telling me to fuck off and telling me I'm not funny, and not very smart, and maybe another poster to this forum at some earlier time....and on and on with all manner of personal insult to include using a variation of my screen name but changing the spelling and putting quotes around it in juvenile fashion for whatever reason. Excuse me for any typos I didn't catch....I'm only of average intelligence, afterall. :wink

By the way, I have never, ever used that word or a derivation therein (hysterical). I think your use of it is telling regardless of your rationalization.

I was too. I think we went a whole month without having to mod confab, it was great!

Yah, I needed that reminder myself recently.

Yes, Carol, please do share your opinion of the topic, rather than attempting to rip others for theirs. The whole world awaits you wisdom.

Yeah, start over. As if the emotional interaction now spent had never occurred.

Retrace your steps and see if you reach the same points of contention.

The "rotten lies" are in this persona's outrageously false paraphrasing of what others write. Luckily what others actually wrote is available, but it's still a rotten tactic. So screw this persona, whatever it is.

This tread started as reaction to tread named ( if I recall correctly ) Study : Everyone hates feminists and environmentalists.
To me it seems Carol is saying that the idea :

" She is feminist, therefore I love her "

is as dangerous as

" She is feminist, therefore I hate her ".

( Feminist can be replaced with any category ).
In other words, not a good idea to (pre)judge people based on the label attached to them, regardless if we do like the label.

( Anecdote , as I recall John Lennon said that for a couple of years he automatically assumed that long-haired people - this is perhaps end of sixties - would be progressive or smart or something like that until he realized that there are long haired conservatives possible as well.)

The problem is not the label, per se, but in the person who purposely misapplies it as a prejudicial negative.

There was a thread to trash feminists & environmentalists. I started this one as a reply in a more positive fashion, and it was promptly trashed.
