Joey could croon with the best of 'em.

I don't think anyone ever found paradise, 'cuz paradise is based on lies
Both his words and manner of speech seemed at first totally unfamiliar to me, and yet somehow they stirred memories - as an actor might be stirred by the forgotten lines of some role he had played far away and long ago.

- Brand New Day | Sting
- LYRICS.
How many of you people out there
Been hurt in some kind of love affair
And how many times do you swear that you'll never love again?
How many lonely, sleepless nights
How many lies, how many fights
And why would you want to put yourself through all that again?
"Love is pain," I hear you say
Love has a cruel and bitter way
Of paying you back for all the faith you ever had in your brain
How could it be that what you need the most
Can leave you feeling just like a ghost?
You never want to feel so sad and lost again
One day you could be looking
Through an old book in rainy weather
You see a picture of her smiling at you
When you were still together
You could be walking down the street
And who should you chance to meet
But that same old smile that you've been thinking of all day
You can turn the clock to zero, honey
I'll sell the stock, we'll spend all the money
We're starting up a brand new day
Turn the clock all the way back
I wonder if she'll take me back
I'm thinking in a brand new way
Turn the clock to zero, sister
You'll never know how much I missed her
Starting up a brand new day
Turn the clock to zero, boss
The river's wide, we'll swim across
Started up a brand new day
It could happen to you - just like it happened to me
There's simply no immunity - there's no guarantee
I say love's such a force - if you find yourself in it
And sometimes no reflection is there
Baby wait a minute, wait a minute
Wait a minute, wait a minute
Wait a minute, wait a minute
Turn the clock to zero, honey
I'll sell the stock, we'll spend all the money
We're starting up a brand new day
Turn the clock to zero, Mac
I'm begging her to take me back
I'm thinking in a brand new way
Turn the clock to zero, boss
The river's wide, we'll swim across
Started up a brand new day
Turn the clock to zero buddy
Don't wanna be no fuddy duddy
Started up a brand new day
I'm the rhythm in your tune
I'm the sun and you're the moon
I'm a bat and you're the cave
You're the beach and I'm the wave
I’m the plow and you’re the land
You're the glove and I'm the hand
I'm the train and you're the station
I'm a flagpole to your nation - yeah
Stand up all you lovers in the world
Stand up and be counted every boy and every girl
Stand up all you lovers in the world
Starting up a brand new day
I'm the present to your future
You're the wound and I’m the suture
You're the magnet to my pole
I'm the devil in your soul
You're the pupil I'm the teacher
You're the church and I'm the preacher
You're the flower I'm the rain
You're the tunnel I'm the train
Stand up all you lovers in the world
Stand up and be counted every boy and every girl
Stand up all you lovers in the world
Starting up a brand new day
You're the crop to my rotation
You're the sum of my equation
I'm the answer to your question
If you follow my suggestion
We can turn this ship around
We'll go up instead of down
You're the pan and I'm the handle
You're the flame and I'm the candle
Stand up all you lovers in the world
Stand up and be counted every boy and every girl
Stand up all you lovers in the world
We're starting up a brand new day
Art will be the last bastion when all else fades away.

Re: What are you listening to right now?
You've gotta die, gotta die, gotta die for your government?
Die for your country? That's shit!
There's a Gulf War vet, dying a slow, cold death
And the government says, "We don't know the source of his sickness."
But don't believe what they say, because your government is lying
They've done it before and don't you know they'll do it again
A secret test, government built virus
"Subject Test Group: Gulf Battle Field Troops"
You've gotta die, gotta die, gotta die for your government?
Die for your country? That's shit!
First World War veterans slaughtered, by General Eisenhower
You give them your life, they give you a stab in the back
Radiation, agent orange, tested on US souls
Guinea pigs for Western corporations
I never have, I never will
Pledge allegiance to their flag
You're getting used, you'll end up dead!
You've gotta die, gotta die, gotta die for your government?
Die for your country? That's shit!
I don't need you to tell me what to do
And I don't need you to tell me what to be... FUCK YOU!
I don't need you to tell me what to say
And I don't need you to tell me what to think! What to think!
What to think, what to think, what to think, think, think, think!
You've gotta die, gotta die, gotta die for your government?
Die for your country? That's shit!
And so the time has finally come
the bourgeoisie has signed the war decree with proletariat blood
and that blood which flows from their pen
is the closest that they've ever been to the people
you've been to our shows
you've sung our songs
now we're asking you to add to each chorus you've sung and
protest, against, injustice, state terror
on the streets of the world
for the disempowered
you've sung at our shows
cheered right over wrong
now it's time to hit the streets
back up those words you've sung
because our voices alone this time will not get it done
looking to stop a rogue regime?
well the first ones that we must confront is WASHINGTON, DC!
the bush "terror war", UNCONSTITUTIONAL, UNCONSCIENABLE
we refuse to let him kill, in our name for oil
we know their game
know they're corrupt
it's up to us to hit the streets, time to take our rights back!
protest, against, injustice, state terror
on the streets of the world
for the disempowered
you've sung at our shows
cheer ed right over wrong
now it's time to hit the streets
back up those words you've sung
because our voices alone this time will not get it done
because the people, united will get it done
protest, against injustice, state terror
it's up to us to hit the streets, time to take our rights back!
protest, against, injustice, state terror
on the streets of the world
for the disempowered
you've sung at our shows
cheer ed right over wrong
now it's time to hit the streets

on the streets of the world for the disempowered

I'd just like to say I have always found allegro's contributions to be utterly inspiring.
Thank you very much, allegro.
Those lyrics from sting. Phew. Those are some powerful lyrics there.
I wonder what sting knows.

Thank You, Hammer of Los, for those kind words. It's probably no surprise that I mostly surprise myself with vids I find to post. Seriously
.
I couldn't imagine what Sting would know philosophically that we RIers don't know or haven't already considered, in one way or another. The Brand New Day imagery is quite a spectacle, I think, and that's enjoyable.

Re: What are you listening to right now?
I've posted this before but not since NINE SEVENTEEN
We can live our own lives; fuck authority!
What is wrong we'll decide; fuck authority!
You need not to fight; fuck authority!
Stand up for your rights; fuck authority!
Officials give us too much shit
No longer can I deal with it
They try and push and shove me around
They try and knock me to the ground
They tell me how to act and what not to wear
They say be polite and do not swear
Fuck authority!
Do it just your own way; fuck authority!
Don't listen to what they say; fuck authority!
What gives them the right; fuck authority!
This is America, man; fuck authority!
Life is laughing in my face
I am sick of the human race
Getting knocked all about
Makes me wanna scream and shout
Don't we live in the land of the free
Give me death or liberty
Fuck authority!!!
NINE SEVENTEEN CHANGED EVERYTHING

you might know of the original sin...
$

that apartment you live in feels like it’s just a place to hide
when your walkin’ down the streets you won’t meet no one eye to eye

now the cops reported you as just another homicide
yet eye could tell that you was just frustrated
