The First World War (percussion version): Einstürzende Neubauten, live in Diksmuide, Belgium, 8th Nov 2014. (The sound quality is neither great nor terrible; at any rate it does give some impression of the power of the thing)
-- 4.5 years of war, one beat for each day = 392 bars in 4/4 time at 120bps. "The First World War ends with the end of the next bar". Percussion: Unruh, Hacke, Moser on plastic plumbing pipes wired to amplifiers -- one pipe for each nation. Jochen Arbeit plays guitar with vibrator. Bargeld names the nations as they enter and exit the conflict. Women's voices name the battlegrounds & other significant locations.
From the new album Lament, marking the 100th anniversary of the start of the slaughter.
