I'm looking for alternate history recommendations. So far from browsing the wikipedia entry, I'm interested in knowing whether I should read:
The Man in the High Castle (tops on my list, guaranteed to read it)
Timescape (despite the Oswald bullshit?)
Women on the Edge of Time (too depressing?)

How about The Plot Against America by Philip Roth? I haven't read it and don't plan on reading it but maybe it is good. Though from what I read on the Wikipedia page, people who agree with Nicholson Baker's important book, Human Smoke, may not enjoy it so much.
As a joke I was going to suggest Marvel's What If...? series but Wikipedia actually included it.
